sunny beach, I agree with you concerning ways to promote ALL 4 FUN. That is most likely the CVBs job. Let's hope they jump on board and get it going! ALL 4 FUN could be a quality of life project, but it would be best if the people of Dodge City had a voice in that decision. I bet most would say, "Get out now!" Right or wrong, I think that would be the over-riding opinion.

| I say the city should keep it open, I don't think the best thing would be to let that property deteriorate, it is a nice facility and should get some use. |

| I agree, although the officials are elected to make decisions on behalf of those that elected them there are some decisions that should have the input of the voters. I would be willing to bet if this was voted on it would lose worse than the NO VOTE on the casino did. I would agree that DC needs things like ALL FOR FUN but at what expense. Is it worth it in the long run for the city to pay for it with tax payers $$. They should take that money and clean up the city, fight crime and make this a decent place to live. THEN there might be enough people here to fill up ALL FOR FUN on a daily basis. Dodge wants to have this and that but until you clean up the town and curtail the crime you are putting the cart in front of the horse. Before anything else is built etc why don't they make this a better place to live.

A four year college would fit this community nicely. However, since that may not happen, we should look at cleaning up our messes and start encouraging businesses to come here. I have always said "Why Not Dodge?" for new businesses. Dodge City/Ford County Developement Corp. needs some authority granted to them to start cutting some major deals. I have nothing against using tax abatements and other incentive to bring new industry into our community! Other incentives may include capital and utility abatements. We've got to do something soon! Otherwise our young people will dry up just like our wells!

Also I think that it would be hard to bring in new business here because we do not have a employment pool to draw from. The unemployment rate here is very low and places are already having to draw from the bottom of the barrel just to fill positions (see Walmart).

| From afar, I agree. Projects like these should be funded by charitable campaigns. Those funds are usually protected and require oversight and reasoning. I just don't know how successful the City Fathers are at running businesses, let along city coffers. Tax dollars should be used to create opportunities for everyone, not just the youngsters. True, youngsters are our future, but if tax dollars are to be used they should be watched carefully. I just thought the decision to operate this particular business with tax dollars was a bit odd. Especially, considering the location.

| Army, I agree with most of what you say, HOWEVER, evidently you have never been around a "chicken plant". They smell worse than the beef plants! On another note, Walmart has some outstanding employees compared to some other establishments that I have been around. Does anybody in DC really give a crap about their job?? Customer service sucks around here! |
