Step-daughter is a geologist and trained for a while with the USGS. Apparently, that training included some (yuck!!) water testing from the Missouri River and other locations in the metro. She said that if we even knew what our city water was like (I don't know if Overland Park gets theirs from wells or another source), we would never use it except to shower/bathe. We actually don't - mostly we use bottled water. I can just imagine what yours is like unless you have somebunny trained on staff at the city to test it regularly.

Maybe we should all invest in GE, they have big water desalination plants that they design/build. With the global warming comes higher ocean levels, we just create more desalination plants to take out the excess ocean water and make it drinkable.

Many years ago there was a presentation at the Lions Club by the Ammonia Plant manager, where he stated that wells were drilled east of the plant and the contaminated water was pumped to the plant and purified at their water treatment plant and then re-injected into the aquifer. Don't know if this still goes on. The reason for the wells being east of the plant is because on the water flow in the aquifer from west to east. That is how I remember it, and hopefully, my feeble brain remembers it correctly.

Yeah I buy those huge jugs of water + bottles! That's the way to go! I could tell when I moved here that the water was nasty! I can't stand it! =
