Global gaming lobby - ? Casino really the goal ?

Any way to find out if Global (one of the two Why Not event center developers presenting to CFAB) has a lobbyist in Topeka working quietly for casino in the events center plan or instead of Boot Hill Museum, etc ? Heard it around. Might be why one group is already being given points by those in charge?

A casino is what Dodge should have....

If you put a casino here instead of trying to lure business I believe business's would be standing in line to come here...IE Hotels, places to eat, etc. A casino would draw people from Wichita to Eastern Colorado and from Northern KS and the Oklahoma panhandle. WHILE they are here losing their money they could check out a gun fight or two....Casino's don't discriminate either...It would pull money from both Hispanics and White people.

I think the question isn't about gaming -

meant to ask if there are unstated influences going on in the consideration of the two event centers -- ie., completely untranspirent government -- darn that is redundent and gee, what a surprise. But there are laws somewhere about it.

Oh, yes, gaming destroy historical tourism -- see Deadwood and Central City ... and raises poverty locally -- but hey, makes someone out of state money, right ?

For every one bad story of gambling ruining a town, there is one good one. Gambling does not ruin anything, it is those in charge and how they run it and handle it that ruin things. We have Bingo, Keno and the Lottery....all gambling....and it has not ruined us. Open up a casino here and allow gambling and you would be amazed at the money made.

It would create jobs locally too....as far as poverty, it doesn't create poverty, poverty was not created by a casino. The good things it would do would off set the bad... I know this doesn't answer your question but for those that think an events center is the answer to Dodge Cities woes are wrong in my opinion. This town is headed south fast (no pun intended) and it is going to take something big and something major to turn it around. An events center isn't going to do it....
