Point is Dodge would be forever changed. Ya get more folks - ya get different sets of problems. Perhaps gambling would be for the best - who knows?

| I'm comparing it to when it really WAS a quiet small town....... If you think it still has a small town feel.....you are entitled to your opinion. I personally don't feel that way about Dodge City anymore and I've lived here all my life. I don't think everyone knows who their neighbors are and even worse, I don't think they CARE who they are. And the way the idiots running the city keep the place tore up, good luck trying to get anywhere anymore in 5 minutes.......

| What you say is true - it's just a much smaller town feel than what I live in now. I have lived in Dodge off and on for quite a few years - I left and came back a couple of times - so having been elsewhere I suppose I see it thru different eyes than someone who has stayed all these years. My nieghbors even after 5 years know who's at my house and who isn't. That makes me lucky I suppose. Course on a 2 block span I only know 2 nieghbors - but they are also the ones that have stayed. It's just a difference of vision I guess. Not a big deal. I hope Dodge does get gambling - I think it could give Dodge a boost but i also think anytime you get the good you also have a price you pay - Las Vegas, Reno, New Orleans and others certainly feel the price is worth it - Dodge I'm sure will too. Cides it'll give me somewhere to have some fun when I come back to visit!

| That small town feeling is gone anyway I agree that casino will bring problems -- but as long as money comes to the county and city and museums, and as long as they plan on a few of the problems -- remember, this is not deadwood style -- 75 casinos -- but one casino owned by the state, built with private controlled money. That is different -- and again, if Kansas has to have them -- and they will in KC KS area, etc. -- then Kansas would be again stupid not to maximize the revenue by having one in the town with the Name Brand for Gambling -- Dodge City and Boot Hill ........... but, given the science issues of late, Kansas does tend to be stupid. We'll see. It may be the only to protect the other venues of family values in Dodge City. We need another source of cash flow to support tourism in the area. Casino would be that. (I know I need to reg. I will, on the run today.....) |

| Cripple Creek, Co was almost a ghost town when the state allowed Cripple Creek to have legalized gambling in the 1990's. Now the population of Cripple Creek is about 1500 and it is a destination gambling spot for many people from Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas and Colorado. It has old hospitals that have been turned into Bed & Breakfasts and several casino operations.

| My point exactly Bubba! I am very familiar with the Cripple Creek buildup, as I have relation there. In addition, I knew some of the people that worked there from Dodge City, and they liked it! As I say, it saved Cripple Creek!! |

| Well I hope you get gambling and not just the game rooms. I know we talked about this last year. The gaming rooms suck I don't care where ya are! I have one 2 blocks from me and the clientelle leave a lot to be desired. I hope we get gambling as well - Texas has been workin on it for a long time. We'll see - problem is tho if it's in every state it won't be such a novelty item. I feel Texas should keep it's money in Texas - right now we are loadin busses to go to Louisanna. I hope ya'lls gambling venture goes the way you want it! PS - JHMom............. I didn't say the nieghbors I knew spoke english!! LOL LOL But they are the same nieghbors that have been there for over 10 years - the ones to my north have been there probably 40 years cause my house I have had for 30 years. I realize not many nieghborhoods are like that - it truely is a rareity. Here I know 6 nieghbors on my block - I know the crack house tentants as well. It's just what ya force yourself to do I guess. I have always found it to be in my best interest to go meet em when I see em............ it works for me but I know not everyone can or wants to do that.
