The National Rifle Association has received a number of reports of ongoing firearm confiscations in Greensburg, Kansas.

We are currently gathering as much information as possible to verify these claims. If the reports are true, your National Rifle Association will act swiftly to correct this injustice and stop any unconstitutional gun confiscations.

don't you think the "confiscations" are nothing more than picking up unclaimed guns that have been thrown about? I don't think it's wise to have to have folks goin around with guns when you have the miltary there - they are your hired gun. I would rather them take guns and give them back later than have folks havin shoot outs over torn up property. When Galveston was under martial law after Alicia, trust me only a fool would be totin a gun. No sense tryin to take on an M16 with a pea shooter. I'm sure they don't intend on "keeping" the guns they are probably trying to get them off the streets and out of the rubble. Remember there are kids runnin around there too. People do wierd thngs in a disaster and if they are under martial law - I don't think you need to be packin unless it's in your home. Since there aren't many of those left - the guns probably need to stay outside of town or locked up till they can be claimed.

All they are doing is placing the weapons in a secured location for return to the owners. I was there helping with the process and they recorded where (if possible), when, weapon type, serial numbers, etc. Gun safes were even taken. There has already been a problem with looting and there was concern that some may take the law into their own hands. It is simply for safety and the owners will get their weapons back.

The NRA needs to stay out of Greensburg and let the local, state and federal law enforcement handle the situation. People who don't have a clue what's going on there need to keep their noses somewhere else....in my opinion.

Maybe the NRA could go to over and lend some muscle and machinery rather than the mouth.
