Are you a politician? You should consider it if you aren't. You are already doing a great job of telling half-truths!

The property tax rate has NOT gone up in Cripple Creek. The total cost of their tax bill has gone up because their property is worth more now than it was.

Now, with mountains, it is, I guess, still pretty. But it has nothing to do with history, that's for sure.

I'll find the photos to post. It is sad, from a historic point of view -- although I'm sure money has been made (what, the measure of all things ?).

Property taxes went up, by the way, there.
I normally don't reply to an "unregistered" poster, but I know from actual experience ( I have relation in Cripple Creek) that without gambling, Cripple Creek was a dried up ghost town. Granted the rapid growth has put some strain on the area, but without gambling, there would be nothing.

Actually, Thompson is pro-gambling, just not in small, isolated towns

Odd but WLA | News

Thompson is a pro-casino expert, also quoted by the pro-casino folks, but out of context. And former FCC Chairman Johnson is not by any standard "anti-gambling" -- he just reports on what happened in Iowa.

And, yes property values did go up in Cripple Creek, along with the property owners -- and the town completely changed -- might as well started a new stop in the road with casino. Won't have had to move all those 1800s houses. But it is the false statements about lowering taxes that point corrects.

Hey, and we could have legal "soiled doves" again, too, huh, in addition to the professional women out at that East Trail St. bar. That's in our heritage, too, isn't it ? go for it. But don't promise lower taxes. Doesn't happen.

I think that is a good call. I think I might give that a try too. If a person can't take the time to register on Dodgeboard, then log in with their username, what they have to say should fall on deaf ears.

Correct, Quietly.

Remember, just because it is found on the internet, does not make it true. Ed Brancart has been gone for 2 1/2 years. How much of this information is incorrect?

sunny beach

If it's such a big deal to you, why don't you use your real name.

I see no difference between having a user name of unregistered as compared to "sunny beach". If keeping your identity secret is the goal of most people at the Dodge Board. (with a few exceptions) why are you ragging on him/her for staying annonomous. sp?

Maybe you should step up to the plate!

For one thing, there could be 100 or more unregistered's so you never know which one you are "talking" to. It isn't hard to make up a name and register then it can be kept straight who is in a "conversation." But, if you can't take the time to do that you can continue to be an unregisturd user. Whichever one or one's you are.
