Where I used to live in the County K "Estates" there were several homes that used to get water in the basement on a regular basis. Those weren't built by Volz. I have no love for his company but there has got to be something in the DC codes and/or storm run off system for the area that aggravates the situation but i'm an accountant, not an engineer.

Not that Volz doesn't have quality issues, I remember the one new house I saw with significant gaps in the siding and walls so far off plumb one would swear a level was an unknown instrument to them. When I came to town told me "he could build me a house or he could put one up for me." The man's put way too many houses "up".

Interestingly this is how Ford County Government rates a Tim Volz built home.

Quote:
"C" Buildings constructed with average quality materials and workmanship throughout, conforming with the base specifications used to develop the pricing schedule. Minimal architectural treatment. Average quality interior heating, plumbing and lighting fixtures.

I tend to agree with you. I think there may be 100's of homes in Dodge City that have water in the basement when it rains hard.

What I think makes Volz Builders unique is that their basement floors float up damaging the entire house. That is whole lot of water.

How that can happen, I have no idea.

During WWII ships were built with concrete hulls (steel shortage) and concrete basements will rise when water surrounds them.

It becomes a boat.... OK, Houseboat.
