| That would be almost like me saying that the books of Jules Verne are a great source of credible science.

| Has everyone here forgotten that science is essentially self-correcting? If an incorrect premise is made, assumed to be true, and used as the launching point for other ideas, eventually that whole thread will collapse and scientists are forced to go back and reevaluate the incorrect premise in order to find the correct one. I'm perhaps most familiar with this in the context of high energy physics and the discovery/classification of several unknown particles that were showing up in accelerator collisions a decade or two ago, but it holds true as far back as Galileo or the question of whether the sun revolves around the earth or vice versa. Or whether one can use Newtonian mechanics in the sub-atomic world. (Which you can't.) Or if you can use quantum mechanics on a scale other than that of the absurdly small. (Which you can't. Case in point: Schroedinger's cat.) If science gets off on the wrong track, it will eventually be forced to correct it's self. |

| Hence the quote...."religion stops a thinking mind".

The site was real. The event was real. The destruction was real. You see no scientific value in that? Give me a break. Thats the problem. People are quick to point out how ridiculous the idea of parting the Red Sea is and ignore the fact science has shown that the sea parting when Mosses crossed could have been a real event as well. Parted by natural events that science has shown happened in that area at that time. Most events in the bible have been found to be real events by those who look. Many old cities in the have been found thanks to the bible as a source of information. Quote:

| I just don't understand how information such as names of cities, locations, dates and people involved in our past can be deemed useless to science just because the events were interpreted in a religious environment. Me thinks religion can stop a thinking mind.

| There are alot of documentaries now re/ Bible stories, that have confirmed the existence and the proof of what the authors of the book were saying. Seem there has been a rush by the scientific community to prove or disprove the stories. I watch these scientific conclusions every time I know they are on. They are on HISTORY CHANNEL, BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL, DISCOVERY CHANNEL, PBS, and the news channels will have specials, and others. I find them fascinating to say the least. The Bible does have credibility ..................... Don't let it frighten you. You have to read it in the context and the TIME it was written. Ancient is the key word . Ancient Egypt , Rome, Babylon .....just check out the ancient maps and imagine the area of those days.
