| Melvin Neufeld: Does he read? Below average IQ required ? Global warming & coal plants: Climate Change, Global Warming, and the Built Environment - Architecture 2030 So Melvin doesn't read ? Nor Whitham, or George ? House Speaker Melvin Neufeld says climate change is good for the Kansas economy. Garden City Rep. Jeff Whitham isn't convinced climate change is a problem. Dodge City Rep. Pat George says economic development is too important to nix two new coal-fired power plants in his part of the state. "Is there a requirement that Republicans like Neufield have below average IQ to be in office?" WE Blog: Is global warming good for Kansas? |

| Is there a requirement that Democrats attempt to open a discussion with an insult?

| I believe that Global Warming is just a phase the earth is going through like the ice age. It will probably change the world, but that's life. The world will evolve like everything else.

| And once again I'd rather pay the money to do something about it now and be wrong later than keep the status quo and do nothing like the nay sayers want to do. Because if the science is wrong then we've spent some money, cleaned the world up a bit and developed new energy sources (something that needs done anyway). But if the people who hope the science is wrong find out it's not and we've done things their way... By the time they figure it out it will be too late to do anything.

| So Wordie - you are a "better safe than sorry" type? I kinda feel that way, too, but it'll take just a tad more convincing for me. I know we have to develop alternative fuels, but I don't know who to trust to do that for the good of man instead of for the good of $$. Generally, though, I don't favor either side - both want to take it too far.

| Good logic says to burn the coal where it is.... I'm against the expansion of the Holcomb plant due to the extreme amount of our groundwater that will be evaporated... somewhere near 2,000 gallons per minute. The operative question is "why is this type of operation not permitted within the states that will be purchasing the electricity?" Here's the rub: Wyoming coal will be shipped into Holcomb to generate electricity that will be used in Wyoming.... and Colorado...

Lack of ground water there will soon be a lack for you guys, unless you have plenty to share. Colorado ? The folks that stopped the flow of the Arkansas. I really do think we don't worry near enough about potable WATER, anywhere in our country.
