| Report from CFAB meeting Race Track Subcommittee - Proposed Promoter Agreement, report by Ken Strobel, City Manager -- Ed Beckley recommended -- $250,000 first year; $225,000, 2nd year; $200,000, third year (basically covers prizes, etc.) Beckley, if approved by City Commission, provides all staff, promos, etc. [Many racers that didn't like Ed, like him now -- basically good move, IMHO] 2. Race Track Subcommittee - Proposed Capital Improvements for Race Track, report by Ken Strobel, City Manager -- About $200,000 or more to build office/ticket building, upgrade sound system, add better clay dirt to track, etc. Necessary for Ed to do job. 3. Southwest Sports Agreement Amendment, report by Ken Strobel, City Manager -- $50,000 to Eddie K. to continue having fun with baseball. 4. Capital Improvements for Athletic Fields, report by Paul Lewis, Park & Recreation Director -- Minor upgrades, fixes. 5. Organizational Funding, report by Nannette Pogue, Director of Finance 10 percent of Why Not Dodge Sales tax recommended to be used in 2008 for other groups (normally to keep Boot Hill open, etc.) No action past that taken yet. 6. 2008 Budget Approval, report by Ken Strobel, City Manager and Nannette Pogue, Director of Finance UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Expo Center Sub Committee Update, Ed Elam, Chair -- Almost private meetings have been going on to plan for another expo center for 4/H, rodeo, etc. by race track. Hey, Ed, remember these meetings are public and should be announced. Note, Butler doesn't want horse dirt by casino ? Odd. 2. Tourism Master Plan Update, Ken Strobel, City Manager -- Consultant meeting with about 20 venues, etc., two weeks ago, started process. 3. Casino Development Update, Ken Strobel, City Manager -- Butler will be at tonight's (Nov. 5) Dodge City Commission meeting to fight the turn-down by zoning board of special permit for casino. 4. Dodge Theater Option Update, Ken Strobel, City Manager -- no action taken yet. |

| Speaking of tracks... Does the city get any money out of the Horse Track in South Dodge? Why is it not promoted like the race track?
