    Well, here I am again. Another Christmas away from home in the service of my country. I have to admit, I am getting just a little sick of this whole being away thing. I was just home on R&R and as I was leaving, my oldest son who is now six asked me why I was going back to the desert. You could see the tears welling up in his eyes, his chin quivering as he spoke.   2. Edition 2, Episode 1 "The Phantom Menace"

    Well, here I am again. Iraq. Sand, sun, and the occasional stray explosion for no reason. This posting finds me at a little crappy airbase just west of Bayiji, Iraq. I guess back when Saddam had an air force this was a functional base, but now its just all jacked up. Typical Iraqi crap. The DFAC (Dining Facility, aka Chow Hall) they have here is really good, for Iraq, but there is only one, and its about a mile and a half from here.   3. Week #20 of 64 - Concrete Pour

    Footings have started, and weather permitting, concrete will be poured for several days on and around the casino pad site.

    Dirt work continues, mostly on the north parking areas and roadways.

    The project remains 'on schedule'.

  4. Week #15 - Dirt Moves

    Activity has started this week with sub-contractor Sporer clearing the site, installing erosion control and beginning rough grading in preparation for pad-sites, temporary roads and staging areas.

    The schedule provides that these steps will last through the end of January.

  5. Week #14 - Dirt Bid Announced

    Sporer Land Development for Oakley, KS was the low bidder for excavation and surface preparation for the Casino - a 200K cubic yard project.

    Included will be the building of West Comanche into the Mariah Center complex, pad sites for the Casino and Event Center, water detention, and other landscaping features.

    Sporer expects to move first-dirt about Jan 7th.
