Board changes - DodgeBoard.com

Some of you have noticed some changes in the board- ie; links and URL changes, "unknown location" messages in the who's online area, and some non-functional links in the user reputation system and other areas.

We have recently undergone a huge conversion from PHP to HTML pages. This is known as SEO optimization. While we are still using a PHP board, we have installed a dynamic SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) URL rewrite system to allow more search engines to index our site, resulting in better searchability, indexing, and ranking via Yahoo, Google, and MSN. As a result of the conversion, there are a few unressolved bugs. Please be patient as we work these out. Please let me know of any other functionality issues that you have noticed via this thread.

I did find a workaround for the user reputation issue- if you click on the number of the post to display the post in it's own window, then you can give user reputation, and it works.

Another problem discovered - you must be logged in to reproduce it. vBradio plugin only works from the main forum home. The link does not work from any other page- ie, diplaying a post or thread.

We are working as quickly as possible to correct the issues as they arise.

I did see a turnitin.com spider here the other day. That is a plagiarism service, not sure why they would look at our board. Not sure that I like them looking at our board. The company almost sounds like "Big Brother." Any chance you could block their spider from the site?

We have reverted the board back to PHP and turned off the SEO function. We feel that we were getting a lack of support for the feature and that it was more important to have all features working than to have a high ranking within search engines.

Bubba, yes I do have the ability to block certain search engines. I will look at rewriting our robots.txt file to block the turnitin spiders/crawlers. Thanks for bringing that to my attention- I hadn't seen that spider on the system myself, so I appreciate the "heads up".

I seem to have found a problem, don't know if it's just me, or everyone. But, when I click on the "View First Unread" link at the top of the page, it goes to the forum front page.
