New Feature: DodgeBoard Email

DodgeBoard email is your very own @dodgeboard.com email account. Every user here now has one.

To access it, click on "DB Email" link at the top of the page.

You will be asked to setup an alias.

For Example:
If you are K C Muffin, you would type in kcmuffin as your alias
You should not enter spaces or strange characters or it may not work.

You will now be able to send email to anyone from DodgeBoard, including other members.

Why is this special?

• We have built in advanced spam filtering
• You can check your mail while online here
• You'll be notified when new email arrives
• You can send email, with attachments
• You have 10 megabytes of storage, more than most email accounts
• Some corporate networks block yahoo, hotmail. Not DodgeBoard.
• You can setup advanced folders and filters
• You don't need Outlook to read or send your mail
• We do not reveal your actual IP address in the headers
• We are secure: Nobody can read your mail, not even the admin!!

If you have an email account listed in your usercp, you should not change it to reflect your @dodgeboard.com account, as it will result in messages coming here instead of notifying you at your other email. Setting it to dodgeboard will cause a buildup of notifications. Notifications will still be sent to that account when you have email here on DodgeBoard.

To those of you (2 members) that had POP access...Sorry, that had to be eliminated to make this update work.

So please, everyone set up your alias now so you can start using your new email account.

I just now set mine up, tried it, and discovered that it also sends a notice to my regular email addy telling me that I have a DB email. Way too kewl.

I chose lurker1ATdodgeboard.com as my addy. But that's a secret.

Looks like you can change your alias at any time. Helpfull if you want to go incogneto or avoid spam.

At this point clicking on a hotlink opens my standard email client.

We have had a couple of members, after setting up their alias, try and go change their forums notification email address (in usercp) to the same email. This is not good.

You should leave your forums email address the same way it was. Here is why: When you get an email at your new DB email address, the system automatically dispatches and email out to your forums email (in usercp).

If they are the same, the forums will send your email to your new DB email address, triggerring another email back to your forums email (in usercp) triggering another back to the other, and so on and so on and so on. Then the system just goes nuts.

Please, DO NOT have your notification email address (in usercp) set the same as your newly created email in DB email. If you have it that way, please go change your email in the USERCP.
