Obviously it was a mistake if it had to be taken away. Yes, it is a shame that there are some people who have voted foolishly. It's happened before.
I guess i fail to see how VITAL rep is to the board. Maybe you could elaborate on why we need it?

Some people voted foolishly? Why because they disagreed with you? We all know how you feel about it, but who are you to tell anybody that they voted foolishly because they want the rep system back. It may not be majority, but 48% is damn close.

No not because they disagree with me. The people that voted for the "thanks and spanks" are on line as well. If i had to vote for one or the other i'd be with them. Who am I? I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread, maybe you didn't get that memo. I'll make sure you get a copy.
I'll pose the question to you too then. Of what great importance does the rep system serve the board, other than something for people to complain about when they get neg. rep?

Drifter, you have the best grasp on this as anyone. I’ve watched a member get driven off the board by one or two others. I’ve been falsely accused of unsigned bad reps when I went two years without giving any. When I did break down and give a bad rep this year I posted it in open forum that I did it.
The rep system isn’t about self-policing, it’s about being vindictive behind the scenes. It’s about sore losers that lost a debate getting revenge. Self-policing is for large boards that have thousands of active members and tens of thousands of posts that can’t all be monitored. We don’t have that. What we do have is a button to report out of line posts. Use it. I’m often here late and see stuff like spam posts that are gone by next morning. Admin runs a tight ship here and dispatches those that need it in short order.
The system was abused. Admin had headaches because of it and that’s why it was turned off. I say let it die and stay dead. And kill the damn thank you / spank you crap as well because some people bitch about that. Why anyone would want to create grief for the person that spent time and money to give us this place is beyond me.

What importance? What importance does any of this play other than to give us a place to go to post our opinions. It's important because 48% of the people that voted want it back. Some people abused it and they are the ones that should be punished. If you can't take what people post or say in rep then you just need to toughen up I guess.
As for the memo, don't bother i'll just put it under File 13 where it belongs.

Nearly 86% of the voting members want some sort of system for rep or thanks. We still need it for the inner-child in all of us. Just because you suppress your inner-child is no reason we all should.
We all greatly appreciate the hard work that goes into running this board. Most of us have no intention of causing any stress to admin or other members.
Please tell me, if the best option is no rep/thanks system, then why are we voting?
Try meditating for awhile then try to revisit the issue with a positive focus on thanks and posrep. I recommend Camomille tea before meditation.
Dwelling on spanks and negrep will only drag you down.
Well now WAIT just a dern minute!....
That is one of the definitions of majority. Another definition of majority is the greater number. This is from the dictionary...
So it is proper to say that the majority want it back....exceed the remaining votes (Ex.: if candidate A gets 100 votes, candidate B, 50, and candidate C, 30, A has a majority of 20): cf. PLURALITY (sense 4)
