    POLL: Reputation revisited

So, you have all had a couple of weeks to regroup and fully test the post thanks/post spanks reputation alternative. What do you think? Do you like it better? Have you seen any problems with it? Now's your opportunity to put in your 2 cents.

Personally, I haven't received a single nasty email about an unsigned negative reputation comment. For me, it's been great. The important thing is, how do you feel?

Note: This is a public poll.

I think it's great for a "feel good" tool if that is what you want.

I believe the Reputation system was designed to give people negative rep for people making rude posts or such. This is supposed to be a self policing board but the spanking doesn't allow that.

You know it's funny....I had a very high rep score pertaining to my posts in the past. I have only been thanked four times on this new system. I think I like the rep system better because I got much better feedback from my posts than I do now; however that is a way to say, hey pootsy, I will give you a good rep and I will stick up for you and your posts, but not let everyone know I approve. Now the thank/spank system is different. Everyone knows who is thanking and spanking, so it is turning into sort of a popularity game, as the rep system was more confidentual. Does this make sense? Another thing though, the rep system gave people the opportunity to say things that they did not want to say in forum, as it might make them be less liked or to not cause friction. This was a good and a bad thing, as if they could say it in rep, they should say it in forum.

I do like spanking Army though, and I might like to spank others so I do like spanking

I like the spank/thanks because it's open, everyone can see who agrees/disagrees with what, we don't have the "complaints" about so and so said this in reps or did this but said that in open forum. However I also like the reps because it allows comments as to why you agree or disagree. I'm torn! LOL

Neither. They don't help police the board at all. I think the neg. rep was used once to run someone out at the very beginning that everyone, i guess, didn't like from the old board. After that it became a popularity contest and became a big shoulder patting circle. With this, spanks/thanks feature you get to see who support and who don't support a post. Although the feature is a little childish with what is suppose to be--the "spanks" isn't used as it seems it should have been intended to be....refrence a couple posts before this and others in other threads.

I was torn on which way to vote. I do kinda like the current spanks/thanks system, but I liked the old rep system too. So I ask... can we keep both, with the user having to option to disable one or the other or both?

I see that and it brings down the purpose of the feature. Maybe one that says "agree" or "disagree" would be better.
