vBWeather- this is going to be released for 3.5.2 very soon. As soon as it is, we are going to be implementing this. Utilizing the vBulletin templates here on DodgeBoard, it will give you an integrated weather system targeted to your locale. It has many cool features such as severe weather alerts and radar maps, without all the ads and junk you get at those other places.

DCScanner- This will be our very own, exclusive service (perk) available to registered members only. While this is a future plan, we have started collaboration with a couple of our geeky members to setup a streaming audio server that will have several local scanner frequencies available. This will allow those members in and outside Dodge City reception areas to listen to the local police scanner while surfing DodgeBoard.com. We plan on starting with Police and Sheriff channels and adding other channels such as aviation, locomotives, city inspection, 443, etc, on down the road. Since this will require a huge amount of bandwidth, an extra server, costly streaming software and police scanner equipment, this project is slated as a long term plan. We hope to implement it by the end of 2006.

We are also planning on moving the system to another web-host and implementing some hosting redundancy. There have been some outages and a few issues with our current host that I am not happy with.

Once that is done, we are planning on upgrading to the newest vBulletin software, since we have already purchased the free updates for a two year period. This upgrade will be a tedious one, as we have added about 27 different plug-ins/hacks to this current software, all of which will have to be reinstalled.

One of the projects that we keep tabling is vBSEO- Search engine Optimization. We want to do this in time, but since search engine ranking is not that important to us and usually just increases bandwidth usage from all the spiders, we keep tabling that project. it requires some special implementations on the web host so we may wait till that is all ironed out.

We have many other smaller goals, but many of these will be along the lines of styles and some added admin features.

The scanner sounds cool! That will save my batteries in mine for real emergencies! As far as weather, I use the Weatherbug at present. It does a decent job.

I know I read that this board will never ask for donations, but I thought that I would offer a couple of bucks if needed for the scanner equipment and software. PM me if you would, so that I can know where to send some money.

Yeah I would send money to the board to help with equip. and such. Just don't want it to become.......well you know............. I never have figgered out how or why someone would do this, buy epuip and just make no money. I'm so puter stupid tho - I'm just a happy user..... but wouldnt' mind sharin what I got if it would help the neighborhood as a whole.
