DodgeBoard is moving!

I am pleased to announce that we have found a new home. Yes, Dodgeboard is moving to a new host today. This is as a result of some unresolved issues with our current host.

What does this mean to you?

• unlimited POP accounts- Yes you can request your personal email account with us!
• automatic backups
• e-commerce, online auctions, etc
• Unlimited CGI, Perl, Curl, GD, Frontpage, SSI, Python, CGI, FTP
• 25,000mb storage 500,000mb bandwidth
• built in redundancy- less outages
• correct times
• better support and resolution response
• faster loading of pages

We will be able to implement other gaming add-ons, java chat rooms, live audio and video streaming, and other features that our current host does not support.

Downside:

• we have to transfer the files over to the new host
• there will be a delay in propagation for the new name servers
• we will then import the database as an sql script which will result in some loss of posts between the time we backup and restore and propagation is completed.
• you may notice some slow-downs during the reintegration process

In short, although we will make every effort to transfer all posts and data, we cannot guarantee that any posts or any registrations or any other data after this moment (4 pm) will get transferred. So if you have an important post to submit, please wait until the "all clear" is sounded. Feel free to continue to post, just understand that it may not make it over to the new servers. We are in the process of doing this right now and hope to be done tonight. We will announce when this is completed.

I wondered the same thing but noticed the clock is still 1 hour and 53 minutes off. If I am not mistaken, You'll know we are moved when the clock is right.

Tee, my clock is right....are you sure you've got your settings right?

You are absolutely right Tee, you will see the time change to the correct time when we are up and running on the new sever.

NOTE: We have just completed the DNS changes. These DNS changes will take up to two days to fully propagate to all ISP's. During this two day period while our DNS is propagating world wide, the site will be bouncing from the old host to the new host every other minute randomly. Once the two days is up the site will only be loading off the new host. Keep this in mind as you post.

Like Tee said, you will know which host you are on based upon the time. If you currently have your time adjusted to correct the time offset issue, then I recommend you go back to your control panel and put it back to central time so you will have the correct time when the transfer is completed.

Once we are done testing, we may go ahead and post the direct (IP) link to the new host, so that you can be sure you are on the new host when you are posting. Until that time, expect some weird things as we randomly jump back and forth using the domain name.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this switch-over and regret the inconvenience this may cause you.

Mine is still set to GMT-8, which I believe should actually be pacific time. That gets the dodgeboard time "close" to correct. Right now it is actually 9:27 pm but by the clock on the bottom of the page dodgeboard says it's 9:21 pm.
