State sends Ford County and Dodge City

I heard Friday that Ford County recieved their first check from the State for the first full month that the casino was open. I heard the amount was $46,000. Now the person who told me this may have been a bit "cornfused"...because when I asked, "Is that the County's portion or the County and the City's portion combined?" they couldn't tell me.

When we get that dollar amount right...it won't be difficult to figure approx. how much money the casino and State recieved...would it?

Anyone know the correct amount yet?

I wish you were wrong also, but you're not. They have already spend 200,000.oo dollars of revenue from the casino that they haven't even seen yet. How could they even think about lowering taxes when they spend money faster than it comes in? What have we got ourseves into? I'm not saying we won't see revenue of over $200,000.00 but you give these guys money and they'll spend it....you don't give these guys money and they'll spend it !!!

I guess when the budget is tight....we've got to spend our way into prosperity or sue someone. (sound familiar?)

I am informed (not completely reliable) that 250 people are employed by this establishment. With labor and the labor burden that is around $203,000.00 a week. Six weeks payroll is $1,219,200.00 plus utilities, insurance, etc. . You have to wonder what is left over from the $3,739,000.00 after you take out all the payroll and other overhead expenses that this must cost for six weeks.

According to the article cited: "contractual payments for the facility itself; utilities; the expenses of all gaming machines and equipment; employee expenses; fees for the central computer system and slot management system providers; certain expenses of the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission and the Kansas Lottery; taxes; insurance; and, other obligations per Boot Hill Casino's management contract with the Kansas Lottery.."
