I was one that wasn't so sure Lee should stay...... hell I'm still laughin bout how much money he said he had available........... but I still think his cell phone # is his private business. If he pays for the phone it's not for city use. If the city pays for the phone - I'd turn it off at 5 when I got off work. If there is an ememergeny then they could call me on my cell. Come on man EVERYONE even someone with only $10 needs and is entitield to thier private time. Looks like he has withstood the fire over his finances........ surely he's entitled to some reprieve....... poor fella.

Would you be available to 40,000 folks on your private time if you were him? I think this cat is tryin to do his job - it isn't required or expected that the mayor be "on call" to the average joe blow 24/7........ that's what emeregency management is for. Call and leave the message.......

PS - can you ask him for a loan for me??????????...........

I usually don't have much to say or opinions that I really need to air, but I do have an opinion that seems to be different than some expressed here about our mayor and elected officials. I feel this way-that being elected to a public office is similar to becoming a parent, in that there are not posted hours on that position---are you a parent 9 to 5?, I certainly hope not and I think that if you are a city commissioner, you are one no matter what time it is. Just my absurd opinion.

H&B - that's like sayin that you are willing to "take call" when it's not your turn to carry the beeper. Do you want your co workers callin your home anytime they feel the urge to vent? If your boss calls your home to chew you out would you not feel he could have done that during your scheduled work time? If there is a true emergency then your number is available. Again there are emergency proceedures to follow - and when you go on vaction do you want your boss to follow you to the cabin via YOUR cell phone? Everyone deserves off time - even the Mayor even parents. You can get him during working hours or as it seems you can try - but even that doesn't give anyone the right to invade his family's time. Folks in public office did not sell the voters their soul - they sold the voters thier point of view and job ability - both of those have office hours just like all of us do. IF dodge had an emergency don't ya think he could be notified?

I'll go there with ya. Some jobs require that you are able to be contacted at any given time. I really think this is one of them. I also feel that if you do not want contact, you should not run for elected office. Or maybe he should have two phones - one that is unlisted for his family and one that is listed and only answered by him. Folks that want to contact him shouldn't all have to go through his office. I don't believe in putting stumbling blocks in front of constituents when it comes to contacting their elected officials.

Besides, don't most (or all) your commissioners have other full-time jobs? I'd be willing to bet they don't want calls at work. So when can you talk to them?

Right you are Miss Muffin. Lee is a school teacher. I'm sure the school didtrict doesn't want to have to keep pulling him out of class to take phone calls. So he has to make himself available for after working hours. If he doesn't like it resign or don't run again when he is up for re-election.

He is a City Commissioner, not your baby sitter, and once again, I am sure that the City Manager or staff has his Home Phone for them to get in touch with him during the off hours. Plus you still have his Cell phone number.
