OK - but you seem to avoid the question. Why not call Boot Hill and tell them you would like to help.

I Know I've been guilty of being a 'sidewalk engineer' because it's easier to talk than lift. Go lift!!

I am reasonable sure that my paw prints on Boot Hill are more visible than yours are.

The idea of an old doG teaching some folks some new tricks appeals to me.

May I submitt for your review

http://www.boothill.org/dodgecity.html

At the bottom is a link to go to the Chamber, other attractions, and the such.......

Second may I offer my "blonde" observation.............. notice ONE difference between the two sites????? The big one that I noticed was in the lower right hand corner of the Wichita site there was a box.......... not so for Boot hill.........

It said........... sponsored by.................... PEPSI

Just wanted to throw that out there for ya'll......... but I really do think Wichita has more $$$$ than Boothill. Cowtown looks like Boothill used to as far as I'm concerned.......... I remember when Boothill was a happnin place.... too bad other things became more important than the very heritage that Dodge City was built on................ just sad, sad, sad....... and truth is probably too late.... it takes more than just some volunteers to make a place work......... ya need tourists.......... I'm afraid your sorely lacking in that department.

I think that what a lot of people don't realize when it comes to Boot Hill is...times have changed. It's not going to be easy anymore.

There is no longer a prime time television show about our town. People no longer load the family into the car to drive to vacation and maybe drive thru Dodge City and stop at Boot Hill since they are already here, now people load up on the plane and fly to their destination.

Now you are going to have to work at keeping it alive. Give people a reason to come visit it. How about marketing it in Japan and make it an experience, like maybe a 2 day 1 night "Live the Old West" where they stay at a Boot Hill Hotel, dress in old west clothing, live the old west experience, ride horses, drive cattle, strap on the old six shooter (with blanks of course). I here the Japanese really like that sort of thing. It could also be marketed like that in Europe (Great Britain, Scotland, Germany, etc.) You're going to have to make Dodge City and Boot Hill the destination as it isn't going to be stumbled upon much anymore and people go as an afterthought.

Dodge City's website.... Convention and Tourism office.... Depot Theatre.... Walk of Fame.... area Lodging.... Shopping.... Industries....

What I'm saying is Boot Hill isolates itself mentally and physically (think: Fence) and even cyber-ly.
Really? http://boothill.org/links.html

EDIT: Sorry, I see Tex Kan beat me to it.

YIBee, one page has a link to the links page. I was expecting to see a "Links" link somewhere in the index section. The picture with the Steer's ass view of Downtown Dodge was just too captivating to notice that link.

My Bad. I'm Sorry.

Hey.......... it don't make ya a bad dog!!!.......... I understand what you were lookin for and you are right it should be right up on the first page in case a visitor doesn't go to all the pages....... but then I think it should also have some "sponsorship" in there too......... Again...... I think Boot hill is in DIRE need of a marketer........ with some brains...... I'm sure the board is doing the best they can with what little they have. It takes money to make money and it's obvious that Cowtown is embraced by the powers that be as well as Wichita itself based on the volunteers they have to put on the shows they do............ It has to be "the place to be"......... before citizens and tourists show up. I think tourists show up to BH but if they don't have a memorable visit then it becomes "bad advertising" and BH is a prime example of how quickly word of mouth travels.

Gee maybe for "cinco de mayo" this year the citizens could embrace some American heritage for a change and actually do something that would benefit Boot hill by havin a DC Boothill day......... Would be interesting to see how many of your fellow citizens would wanna take part in some American heritage................... bein here in Texas with the flood of folks that are tryin to take Texas back........... just kinda fires me up!

Typically during the Labor Day weekend, Boot Hill will have a special event and I've enjoyed going there........

Question: "Who knows that Boot Hill will give a season pass to every Dodge City (and I think Ford County) resident?" Yup. Free.
