I've personally gone back and forth on the issue of the special events center, but my opinion is irrelevant, the voters spoke and the city should follow. If there are second thoughts, maybe the question should be put to the voters again: Should we build the special event center? Let the voters make the decision, not one or two commissioners who think they know what is best for Dodge City. I say, clean house and put in all new commissioners. If they don't do what the citizens of Dodge want then the next election we can clean house again. At some point, they should realize that they work for us and if they don't do their job, we will remove them.

| I always thought it was a bit... um... funny, that the same people that cried the loudest about the "dirt track that was voted for" are now crying the loudest about NOT building the events center that was also voted for.

| By the way, a question for the people that know Ed K. or for Ed K himself. Isn't Ed K associated with the Southwest Softball Association, and didn't they receive $40,000 last year from the tax money and aren't they slated to get $50,000 this year? Where does that money go? Isn't it a conflict of interest to be a commissioner and vote for public money that you will receive?

| Yes it is Bubba. But with this current bunch that doesn't seem to matter.

| Quoted from Bubba: I've personally gone back and forth on the issue of the special events center, but my opinion is irrelevant, the voters spoke and the city should follow. If there are second thoughts, maybe the question should be put to the voters again: Should we build the special event center? Bubba, I thought we voted on this again awhile back. It was turned down. I know, they say now that we were only voting on "location", which you know is a bunch of BS!! As far as Ed and the SW Softball Assoc., I know Ed puts on LARGE Tournaments in other parts of the State and the US. He is not able to bring these to Dodge City because of lack of local cooperation, hotel room shortage, and used to be lack of proper facilities. When Ed and GAry Turner took over the SW Softball Assoc., years ago, they finally made it a viable Association, and it was the first time it had made money rather than lost money. Now, I don't know the latest because it has been many years since I played softball, but if given the chance, Ed could bring alot of "economic development" into Dodge City. Granted, if he is not still P.O.'d about things they did against him in the past!! Now, I am not trying to make anyone mad here. I am just getting my 2 cents in, and my opinions, from past knowledge. By the way, they won't let me vote anyway--------------I just escaped from the State Hospital--------------and i live in the County!! ![]() |
