So you paid less in property tax last year for a higher valued home than you did in 97. Excuse my ignorance, but whats that got to do with honoring a decision made by voters?

YES, You do. I don't get your point. What are you trying to say?

OK, I'm a bit foggy on the whole voting thing. So I should "get out and vote because it makes a difference" but it only counts as long as it doesn't raise someones property taxes. And I'm to realize that at a later date my vote may mean nothing, or be brought up for a re-vote?

Politics is soooo complicated

Who the hell wants to come here??
I agree... you don't think.

(sorry for the double post.)

If you're going to act informed on this, you have to look at the FACTS.

If the event center is built, it does NOT mean that we can't do more with the "Why Not Dodge" funds.

FACT: The city's bond counsel (the people who's job it is to study these things) stated last year, that we could build the event center, continue paying off the previous projects, provide operational funds, and have an annual surplus, all WITHOUT SPENDING the money we have in reserve now! THIS IS A FACT! If you don't believe it, call city hall and ask Nanette Pogue.

I'm not even going to get into the issue of whether an event center type of facility will be successful... there are several studies that concluded that this type of facility would benefit our community... how do you think this all got started?

What is all this about "we shouldn't build the events center because the town has changed"... What's your point? That we have more hispanics? If so, the event center makes even more sense... there's a whole other market of events and activities that weren't really considered in '97. The hispanic community would be a big user of an arena facilty. Maybe that's what you don't like?

Kimminau and his cronies will, and have, made up false figures about this and many other things... their list of lies is long.

If you're basing your voting decision on this issue, please, at least try to find out the FACTS. City Hall phone number is 225-8100. ask for Nanette. I dare you... prove me wrong and Kimminau right.

Check this out....I am not going to pay for an event center that is mostly being used by illegal immigrants that aren't suppose to be here in the first damn place!! Or by the illegal immigrants in Garden City as well! I am so sick of this. I am sick of Excel, the smell it brings, the drugs that the people who work there bring in, the list goes on.

Let me tell you some figures I have, that I know Nannette doesn't have....

Ounce of cocaine or meth in 1996........$1200.00 to $1400.00
Ounce of cocaine or meth in 2006........$400.00 or less

Can you say COMPETITION??? Damn I wish someone else sold Cable TV!!!!!

Most of that shit is brought in from Mexico and sold by the illegal immigrants, here in Dodge City, or the young kids in gangs that think by doing this for them, they will earn their respect. Yes there is non illegals selling this, but I bet your ass they got it from an ILLEGAL!!!!

Pootsy and MitUSA, i see that mr. kimminau is a friend of yours and thats fine. But i wouldnt vote for some of my best friends if they ran for commission. Pootsy, you say Kimminau is for the people. Well i dont know where bickering(which all the current commissioners are guilty of) helps "the people." If he gets elected again, one thing he better do is actually help the people by working things out.

That is the beauty of building the special event center, YOU DON"T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! The sales tax pays for it, if you don't want to pay for it you have the choice to shop outside of Ford county, then you don't have to pay for it. Also, if the illegals are already here they are buying things locally, more than likely, and by doing that they are paying for it to. At least we are getting something for them being here illegally.

Another thing, if the negative people get their way and get rid of the sales tax, I guarantee that your property taxes will go up to pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the existing facilities we already have.

So, I think we're getting the the core of your problem... It's not the Event Center, it's the Hispanics, legal or otherwise.

Kimminau has been a commissioner for four years. Tell me, what has he done to fix your problem? While we're asking, what has he done to lower your property taxes. Last year he voted FOR the largest city property tax increase in years!

The FACT is, Kimminau has voted FOR every every tax abatement for the packing plants. Much of his financial support has come from people involved in the beef industry.

Abatements for the packing plants and hotel corporations, and property tax increases for everyone else... THAT is Kimminau's record.

Also, Kimminau & Boettcher are against the SEC, but are for a water park. We have already dried up our river by overuse of water and the deminishing water table. So, we can't afford to spend $30 million on a SEC but we can spend that money on a water park? I can assure you that upkeep and maintenance on a water park would be a hell of a lot more on a water park than on a SEC.....
