That is unless they have a cell phone stuck in their ear then you might as well go because they have no idea who has the right of way.

Maybe true for some, but I for one have enough intelligence to do more than one thing at once. I can walk and chew gum at the same time, I can read and listen to music at the same time, I can also drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time. The trick is not to pay so much attention to the phone that you forget what else you are doing.

Also, yielding to the person on the right means nothing if you are in an accident. Kansas is a comparative liability state when it comes to insurance. You could have been the person on the right, you could have had the right-of-way. But, when it comes time to turn it in to the insurance companies you will be found at least partially "at fault". Leave it to insurance companies to screw everything up!

I agree with you to an extent Bubba. Kansas being the way it is, does not allow us to determine who is at fault in an accident. We do however do our best to make that clear on our accident reports. This does make a huge difference. I have personally talked to several individuals that have told me they did not have to pay for damages because the report was clear on where the fault should be. A lot of people are also cited for the infraction that caused the accident which also helps in a huge way.

I guess when I say, yield to the person on the right in an uncontrolled intersection, I am pertaining more to the situation of approaching those intersections at the same time or before another vehicle. Hope that helps. The overall issue, is there are way too many bad intersections in this city. Something needs to be done about it!

I don't disagree with you but in the accident I was in it was clearly the other drivers fault, I was on the right and had the right of way. But when it came to insurance I still was 10% at fault.

Common sense tells me that when BOTH ya'll wind up at the intersection at the same time. You do yeild to the right. Problem is if you blew the intersection and so did the other guy..... both are at fault equally. WHY??? Cause common sense also tells ya there is no protection for any driver at that intersection. You are supposed to slow to a point you could stop IF the other guy blows the intersection whether he is on your right or left.

All rules are off at an intersection like that. Courtesy tells ya the "right yield" rule should apply but how many courteous drivers have you seen lately. I try real hard not to travel streets like that but if I have to I try to stay on a street like 6th where it's a main through fare. It's a shame folks can quote all the rules but fail to drive DEFENSIVLY.............. "Right" don't mean a gnats ass when your dead or seriously injured................... Just my take on all this......... Course my kids say I'm an old lady driver........ but ya know what??? Haven't had a wreck in ages...... been close but no collision.

Close is much cheaper for insurance and my cars last longer.

Have you ever told someone to do something on 'their right'? Then you have to say 'no, your OTHER right'.

Earp @ Fourteenth is 4-way stop signs now. Single lanes on Earp have backed-up for over 4 blocks....

lots of tires... so little time.

Omigod! Earp at 14th is a 4-way stop? The world is coming to an end!!! I hope it's just temporary. I can smell the gas fumes now. Are they trying to force traffic onto other streets for a reason? I bet the merchants are fit to be tied. The last thing they need is to be associated with something like a ready-made traffic mess.

I can't even imagine a 4-way stop at the intersection of a state highway and another main street. Oh, now you've pissed off all the travelers!!!

We tried going thru Earp and 14th last night. I for one will be taking Spruce for a while unless I have to get on Earp.

I do hope when this is all done, they work on the lights on 1st and 2nd. Timing is horrible! Also, you should be able to turn on 1st street even if there is no arrow. I hate ending up there during lunch time or at 5pm. All it would take is to reprogram the lights to allow for the traffic to flow.
