| Since it is single lanes on both Earp and 14th, you should see it when there is a train. ![]()

| Guess I thought it was for the widening of Wyatt Earp. http://www.hutchnews.com/news/region...ne051906.shtml Dodge City traffic to change during waterline installation DODGE CITY - Traffic on Wyatt Earp Boulevard will be shifted to the south side of the street during the initial phase of a waterline reconstruction project. It will be limited to one lane east and one west between 12th to 14th avenues. The waterline also will affect 14th between Spruce and Trail streets with traffic moved to the east side of 14th and limited to one lane north and one south. The waterline installation will gradually move east and end at 7th Avenue. Motorists are asked to be aware of the construction zone and obey all signs and barricades. Completion is expected by June 24.

| And now that people are using Spruce, it causes the light at Spruce and 14th to turn red which causes a major crunch. It is a total mess, I feel for ya Vin.

| Speed Trap Alert!! I guess the city's getting greedy. This Saturday morning our local crime stoppers(?) were set up and busting motorists as they were descending the 14th. Street hill down towards the Wyatt Earp construction. It's 20 mph there and I can agree that the speed limit is necessary WHERE AND WHEN there is construction activity; but bustin' motorists on a lazy and slow saturday morning with no workers around is just plain wrong. No, lurker didn't get caught. Yes, lurker jumps for joy when even one of those perfect pricks gets caught doing anything wrong.

| Construction zones apply whether there are workers present or not. The reduced speed is not to protect workers, it is to slow down drivers in these areas because traffic has been narrowed down. In this case, on Wyatt Earp and 14th, I dont think any of us would want cars whizzing inches away from us at any speed deemed unsafe. It is also clearly marked several times as 20 mph. |
