| In my opinion, the city manager should not have a country club membership at the tax payers expense. Esp. when the city manager proposes a 1.9 Mill Levy tax increase. If our city leaders are sincerely concerned about accountibility of spending tax dollars, I'd think they'd look at this issue! It may not amount to alot compared to the proposed 2007 budget (in excess of $34,000,000.00) but every cent counts. Just because we've done it in the past, does not make it right! When the city proposes an increase to our property tax and the city commissioners then gives the city manager a membership at the C.C. something is just not right. (IMO) I'd think that if Jeff was really concerned about Dodge, he'd deny the offer and allow that money to stay in our general budget. It was once said that he needs a quite place to hold private conversations with contractors, potential investors and etc. So I say, take them out to eat at a local resturant, (the city can pay for that, No problem!) and talk business behind a closed door. (his office) This is just my opinion, but then again I'm just a tax payer and my opinion does not seem to really matter any more! Mike B. |

| Well said Mike!

| I whole heartedly agree!! If there is gonna be a CC membership paid for by the city then let it be used by EVERY employee in the city. ( like a discount on golf if you are a city employee) I am truely tired of the "entitlement" mentality of public servants (elected and hired by the elected). Let him buy his own damn membership - and who says CC should have a monopoly on city business lunches?? I'm sure the pancake house would love a piece of that pie!! It's good enough for the rest of us to eat at -

| City employees don't even get a discount at the course that the city owns. Who honestly thinks they'd give them a discount for using the Country Club? Come to think of it, if the city owns a golf course, why do they pay for a membership to a private club for the city manager. Make him use the one they already own.

| Bubba, You are correct! There is no restaurant at the city golf course. So I say, save our tax dollars and put them to work on something that will make a difference here in Dodge. Like paying of municipal bonds and other debts. I'd hate to see Tee's property tax go up another 16% like last year. Just a question for everyone! Did your assested value go up or down this year? Mine went down $500.00 maybe because I protested last year. I don't know for sure, but it did go down. Mike B. |
