I don't know specifics, but I understand it was being done with the blessing of the man. That and they got caught with too much in the stock market at a bad time.

If by blessing, you mean that he willingly turned over operation of the company to them, then yes, it was with his blessing. But, if you mean that he knew what they were doing, then no.

I feel fairly positive he either directed or knew of the transactions. He was a very astute businessman and probably would have been bored to death if not able to work (mentally, not physically). He might not personally have made the investments, but I still think he would have been involved. Doesn't matter, really - he was in the process of turning things over to would-be heirs and they're all left with nothing. I hear Sid and the Mrs. are doing well and the kids came out OK - probably not unscarred, but OK. Old man Warner (Sid's father) was very astute as well and it appears Sid and his kids took after him. I think the biggest problem was timing.

John Doll? What's it take to be a CONgressman?

Hmm, let's see - he comes from a wealthy family and he mows lawns?
OMG, it's Forrest Gump Jr.!!

Successful folks have Mexican Gardeners... Peter Rowan wrote a whole song about that.

all kidding aside, the Doll's are from a small community. If there was an illegal Mexican in town, they'd all know it and they'd let the employers know it wasn't welcome. I've always thought of that family as being hard-working, caring and good citizens. You have the problem of any representative trying to put his own agenda first. So is he any worse than the incumbent?
