| Demon '84, How did Dodge City give away over one million dollars in property tax? They never had it to give away. Did they? I know what you are saying, the figure is closer to 1.25 million. You must be assuming they would have built in Dodge without the tax relief? Maybe, maybe not! Either way what did the city (you and me) lose? |

| Our glorious city at it's finest..........so that's why my property tax went up so much last year. I even appealed (and lost) - I begged thme to buy my house for what they thought it was worth - I'm all in favor of a casino tho...will give me sumthin to do when I'm there.... actually I heard about plans for casino stuff at Boot Hill probably 3 years ago does anyone else remember that rumble? Wasn't real loud but when I hung out with Round up, Boot Hill and the Chamber it was a topic now and then.

| It is beside the point. If the money was earmarked to aid Boothill then that is what it should have been used for. Are they still in the red or where they ok without the money? Everybody (or a lot of people at least) complained, whined and bitched about the money going for what we voted it for (an arena or sports complex) because they felt it would not benifit Dodge. Did this benifit Dodge? Did we get a casino? Somebody better get seriously slammed for this.

| Flying Dutchman, The ones to be slammed are the ones at Boot Hill who are promoting gaming in Dodge. As far as I'm concerned they lied to our city commissioners. They asked for monies to get out of the red then sent it to lobbist in Topeka. The casino will not be built in Dodge. We are to far out of the way. S.W. Kansas can not support a casino. If it could one would have already been built. |

| Sorry Mike but I aint letting the commissioners get off that easy. Before I can borrow money I have to account for where that money is going, then account for it after it is spent. If Boothill lied about where the money was going then the commissioners should be in the front of the group calling for heads to roll. Dimes to donuts they won't be. As for Boothill lying in the first place, has that hell-hole ever been up-front an honest that you can remember? As for Boothill wanting a casino, I can't fault them for that. If they were to get slots or video poker machines it would draw revenue to them. Could we handle a major casino here? Not the Palms we couldn't but there is enough of a population to handle a small casino. Look at how many poker tourneys there are in town. If you had just one place to go, it would be able to handle it. 30 slots, a couple of Black Jack tables, 2 or 3 poker tables.....yeah, it would be do-able.

| Start small, then grow it from there. I always thought that if done right we could take advantage of our history. Getting our airport updated with a few more flights, Old West themed casinos, shuttle tourists from the airport, advertise outside the state, promote our little town and the casinos and maybe we could grow it into the "new Branson"! With the Horsthief Canyon Reservoir, day trips to places like the Dalton Gang Hideout in Meade, etc.

| Hey ya'll better check around and make sure there isn't any Indian land sittin idle - then everyone will be upset they didn't get the "first" slot and are being put outta business by the indians Honestly Gaming will be the least of ya'lls worries. We have those little gaming places here in Texas. There is no money exchange but ya trade out points for items. Never been in one but they are always busy. With Locals. There is gaming in DC - just gotta know where to go....... ya'll know that..... I know the point here is that Boot Hill didn't exactly tell the truth - so do ya think that maybe they were given the message that NOT being "completely honest" was the way the "system" works anyhow...... why is this so suprising...........small town / big town / ANY town Politics as ususal.
