| Ford County Voting: Fraud? It seems like this new system is a bit unsecure...Does anyone else feel this way? I mean really...they give you a little pink post-it note with your township scribbled on it, you hand it to a person on the other side of the room who generates a non-voter associated PIN number, then the pin number is all you need to cast a vote. What would stop a person from going to Walmart and buying some pink post-its then returning several more times in one day to cast mutiple votes? You could even vote in other townships if you wanted to. The problem is, since the PIN number is not associated with your voter ID or name, there would be no way to cross-check or even spot it, especially if they employ this system in larger districts. Just doesn't seem like a well thought out system to me. Anyone else think this?

| Let's compare. In Johnson Co., you check in at the first desk and they give you a slip of handwritten paper (I couldn't see what they scribbled on it). You stand in line with that slip of paper till it's your turn. Then you give the slip of paper to one of the two guys standing near the voting booths - 4, 1 of which was out of order - (which are actually voting machines turned toward the wall - no more scary, dirty curtains), who give you a credit card-looking thing, briefly explain the machine and show you how to run a tutorial. At the end of the split-second tutorial, you are on your own to cast your ballot electronically. When you're finished, you take the credit card-looking thing back to the gentleman, who in turn gives it to the next in line and starts that procedure all over again. Then you simply walk out the door. I wondered the same thing as I looked at the handwritten slip of paper. There was an attendant at the in-door who was placing folks in line (like we didn't know how to line up single file), three attendants at the check in desk, three guys handing out the credit card-looking thingies and another at the exit door. But, at the check-in table, you have to give your name (drivers license if you're voting for the first time) and sign a line below your name which was already computer-printed there. Now if you were in line (the guy ahead of me) and weren't on the computer print-out, they gave you a different piece of paper, you proceeded (and didn't have to wait in line for the credit card thingie) to a different table (which was also attended), filled out a provisional ballot form, they gave you a provisional ballot, which, after voted at a different table, was stapled to the form and you exited. Why couldn't it have been so simple and fast for me? For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why anybody in their right mind would want to go through all this (mine was 40 minutes) for the second time in a day just to cast 1 (one) extra ballot. Wouldn't swing any of the races up here anyway. They were landslides, for the most part. ![]()

| I sit on the opposite side of most folks fence about voting and driving.... I don't appreciate the honesty policy when voting.. 2 ID's would be fine with me. And I don't understand why one's expiring driver's license isn't adequate identification when applying for a renewal.
