| I agree Gunnar, It needs to have a laser tag and maybe even a skating rink like Gardens had. We used to go over to Gardens all the time and the skating rink was pretty busy on the weekends. I think the problem over there was that most of the games were broke and the lasertage was down more than it was functional. Lack of a good qualified tech. A place like this needs to hire a tech savvy person to keep the games going and also serve as an attendant.

| Quote: And this has relevance, how??? Are you trying to compare Dodge City to Cincinnati? Are you trying to compare a mini-golf/go-kart track to a Mega Water Park?

| I have to disagree that these, the water park, slide and all-4-fun, are white elephants. I think they have great potential, if run and managed better. I read in an earlier post about spending 10 to 12 dollars a person for a movie. You are correct that it too is expensive. What was missing is you don't go see that same movie over and over spending that money. The putt-putt course was nice to look at........but how many times could you play it in one day before being bored? It had no obsticles and no challenges. The one in Garden was worse, the carpet was always torn, missing bricks, if you missed or over shot the course your ball wound up God knows where...... Instead of one course why not have 3 of them, at differnt levels of playing or something? Just a thought. The go-kart track was, well, it just was. You could not race, heaven help you if you bumped into other drivers or drove to fast. I got pulled of the course because I bumped into a kart being driven by an 8 year old. What the hell is he doing driving on a course that he obviously could not drive on? Again, if I found it boring and un-challenging I can only imagine how a younger person would find it. The water slide actually used to be fun. I admit, that walk up to the top was a bitch......but it was a good workout. Only problem I had, and my kids had, when going there was other kids getting out of control. Stopping in the middle of the slide to cause a jam (lost my toenail slamming into one of those....of course being 250 pounds and cruising rather fast the jam was not there for long ) or slamming on top of someone at the bottom of the slide. These could have been handled better with proper people working there. I must admit, kind of hard to take some kid that has no chest hair yet and his voice cracking seriously.A water park could make money also....if ran properly and offered more than just a slide. I miss the skating rinks, to bad they wen't to hell around here. First mistake was allowing in-line skates. I am sure thay are great and fun to skate on but most, if not all, of those wearing them to the rinks just wanted to jet around. Allowing the gang problems there was bad too. Having the S.O. as security gaurds didn't seem to help. The town is what it is............but, with the right people things could run here.

| I agree with FD. These ideas could work with the right management. The problem with the water park is that we have already sold our sole to the packinghouses. I honestly don't believe we have the water resources to support industry and entertainment. Now considering what industry has done to the quality of life in dodge I say give the resources to entertainment. But we know that will never happen. The Putt-Putt course needs a western theme. Perhaps a mini Boot Hill? I used to spend tons of money on the Malibu Race Track. Competition is a must for a successful track. If you can't race against fellow drivers you should at least be able to race against the clock. There are some things that need to be done BEFORE any of these ideas can be a success. We need to shit or get off the pot. To think dodge can keep it's present "business as usual" AND support such local entertainment is just stupid. That is unless we build a Parque Del Agua(water park), Va la pista del carro(gocart track) or a Pista De Patinaje(skating rink). Our skating rink died because parents no longer felt comfortable leaving their kids there. Ironically, it's these same parents who set at home polishing their Paso's, while patting themselves on the back for cashing in on the immigration gold rush, that complain about nothing to do in dodge for their kids. Auto sales, fast food, slum lords, schools and even city officials are happy to cash-in on the immigration gold rush while thinking nothing of our city's future, or even their own children's future. Of course, I'm betting most of these people have no future plans for THEIR kids in dodge. I'm sure they can't wait to get their kids the hell out of dodge. Problem is, as with all such gold rushes, they don't last very long. As our resources dry up, and they are, the rush will move on leaving dodge to clean up the mess. These packinghouses they we have been kissing the butt of will not hesitate to pack up and move on. Local people will, as usual, point the finger at Dodge's leaders for it's despair.
