Now ya know lyin and cheatin are wrong........the politicians know it's wrong......there is a fine thread that makes people who they are....its called "moral fiber" Some of us have stronger threads than others granted - but you really need to be above reproach when you ask someone to cast a vote of confidence your direction. Hence the resignation thing is not such an off the wall request. Granted those askin may be no better than the one they are askin.....but even vultures will pick on the dead carcass of another vulture if hungry enough.......Politcally dead is a contagious kinds illness.

The one thing Terry Lee knows is that his Father wouldn't have dumped HIS debt.

For those who don't know about Lee's Body Shop, it was on Sycamore Street about a block east of Mr. Burger (now Thai Angel) and it struggled hard to make an honest living for a modest family.

Yes, Terry Lee could have easily sold his house to pay-down his debt and renegotiated the remainder; but that would have required a lowering of his lifestyle....

Sorry USA I didn't mean to make it sound like we're all a bunch of corrupt creeps. I do have a very grim view of politics, politicians and the people that support them based on my own experiences, but then even creeps seem to have a place in the world.

As a kid I went through bible school with Terry and had him in most of my classes through grade school, juror high and high school. We were never good friends, just passed each other by a lot while growing up. Some of you seem to know far more about him personally and feel qualified to pass judgment, but I don't.

What I meant to say was that IF you found yourself in a financial bind and facing bankruptcy are were looking at the option to keep your house, car and or retirement as long as you filed by [enter deadline] what would you do? Facing bankruptcy you're already looking at the bottom so what do you have to loose?

Perhaps you know the personal circumstances behind his decision to file I don't, but does his decision to do what was best for him/family reflect on his ability to do his job?

Well moral decisions have brought down presidents - is Mr Lee an exception? I don't wish him a difficult life - but I do have a problem with his not getting out of his financial woes like the rest of us.......ya know - lowering your standard of living and maybe a garage sale???? Ya do what ya have to do in an "honorable" fashion - especially if you are a "public servant". When you are in "public" life you give up privacy on some issues. This is one of those.

If he is expected to be a "dependable" public servant - then he needs to show "dependability"............I don't think this is the way to do it. I'm just saying maybe someone else could represent DC with a little more stability. It has nothing to do with him - it has everything to do with perception.

I actually have recently changed my mind on how I feel about this issue - course it doesn't matter - I don't vote there but I still have an opinion, I still pay taxes in KS and DC so I still help pay his salary just like you. If you had an employee that publically wasn't standing up to the litmus test - would ya keep him or would ya ask him to move one? It really is more about the part of his job that says he "represents" the citizens of DC. I'm just not so sure I want someone that can "beat the system" and still live "high on the hog" reapin any of my tax money in the form of income. It's my taxes - I get to have my opiion... He's not gonna step down - he doesn't see the need - why would anyone want to cut their own throat? I do feel it's embarressing to have a city official that becomes a taxpayors burden by filing bankruptcy........ some jobs need to be held to a higher standard - if ya can't meet that standard then you need to work elsewhere.........don't make ya a bad boy.....just not the RIGHT boy..................

I do not know what his circumstance was that brought this on, so I can't really judge him on rumors alone. If or when the facts on this matter is brought out will I Judge his decision.

I don't care about his decision - I just know it looks real bad. Being in a leadership position should be all the "decision" he needs. His ability to be and "effective" leader is hindered - DC deserves an "effective" leader. No mayor should have his city and surrounding cities officials snickering about his checkbook and for goodness sake it shouldn't be a news article in the paper. He should have saved his city the embarresment of going thru this.

If that employee's job was temporary, as is the Mayor's, I may not ask him back for a future job but I don't think I would publicly humiliate him or a flogging in town square for something I might have done myself.

What are your views on this and does it cover a Mayor of a City? Just curious if the Laws protect his Job?
