| It's prolly harder to get a Concealed Carry permit than a badge in Kingman Kansas. Quote:

| there is something more to that story that isn't being told - It could be on the dept, on the city, on the DA - but there is something about that plea that reeks of "deal makin" - sounds like Williams has something on someone........or there was no clear consise policy in place or something. If you act a moron and it's within policy - then you are basically covered. The part where you can get sued for not doing what someone in your profession would "reasonably" do comes under malpractice. Cops don't have malpractice suits - that's how I see it - I don't have sources to quote but I never seen a cop brought up on malpractice - even tho he is liscensed and board certified. Maybe I just missed the lawsuit but seems if ya wanted to ban him forever that would be the way to go.

| the scary thing here.... People with permits thinking they are police officers. I was watching the video form the second page of this strand and the thing that went through my mind was How did the guy outside the store know this kid he shot was a bad kid? Maybe he was running outa the store for his safety. Scared for his life and then gets shot outside the store by some clint eastwood wana be. Sorry I really don't think that this is a smart issue. Example. Even the most even tempered people when put behind a steering wheel display examples of road rage. Do we want all good people carying guns so they can jump out of a car waving a gun to stop the bad drivers? I really don't see much good coming out of this whole mess. How many innocent people will be killed by some well doer because he misreads a situation? I know several people in this town that want a permit. All seemingly level headed professionals until you get the opportunity to see the other side. I think I will duck now, the bullets are sure to be flying soon. |

| Macdaddy, I’ve watched the CC issue in other states for about 20 years and the bad things you describe just don’t happen. CC holders don’t think of themselves as police or imagine themselves as Clint Eastwood. The real number of folks that get permits is a small percentage. The last figures that I saw had Florida the highest at 4%. Most states are only 2 or 3%. Permit holders caught in any sort of wrongdoing are at a smaller percent than non-permit holders. The last time I saw numbers on mistakenly shooting someone other than the real bad guy civilians screw up as a percentage less often the police officers. What has been shown is when CC laws are put into effect violent crime rates go down with women as a percentage getting more benefit than men. Everyone benefits from lower crime rates including non-permit holders. A CC law is long overdue and proven by the track records in other states as a good thing.

| Here's my answer!! Here is my answer to the "no handguns" signs that I have seen around town. I had these signs made up and have one posted on the front door of my business. I've already received favorable comments on this sign. I think more people who support the right to carry should do this also. |

The second post quoted is nothing more than a misinformed person relaying misinformation on to other people as facts.
