There is a website listing all property, taxes, and owners, but the URL slips me at the moment.

I don't really know enough about taxing property owned by a church to make an educated statement. However, I do believe if the revenues are used in the church and not for lining a persons' pocket (which I'm sad to say, does happen in larger organizations that have little or no accountibility) i'd feel ok with it.
That is the problem, many churches are getting involved in politics, telling the people they should vote a certain way or risk going to hell. Or, telling the people which candidate they should vote for. Even inviting politicians to speak at their church to their congregation, which is a back-door endorsment of a candidate, in my opinion. Or, telling them that gambling is wrong while they rake in their dollars on "Bingo Night." Can they not see the hypocrisy in that??

I am new to this site Bubba so I haven't read everything you have said about alot of things. However I noticed you have spent quite some time denigrating religion, even in your signature you insult born again christians. Now you have every right to say these things, but let me ask you, do you feel it's OK for Unions to endorse candidates?the ACLU? NAACP? even moveon.org, and other non-profit organizations who pay no taxes but are allowed to endorse issues and tell their members that those are the issues that they should be voting on? Churches are not unique in the tax-free area as that secular organizations also are allowed to say what issues their members can support, and even tacitly approve specific candidates.

I think the ACLU and the NAACP should be disbanded altogether. Unions are a little trickier, unions are made up of tax-paying members even though the union itself is tax-exempt. If you look at my past posts, you would notice that I quite often take the opposite view of the majority, to bring out more debate on topics and to offer a different point of view. People will often learn more about subjects when they look at both sides of the topic in question.

I also changed my sig line so not to offend born again christians.

I don't get that. I guess if you wanna equate lots of older adults playing bingo with dogs & sluts playing the slots in the casinos, then yes. But, come on. People have played Bingo for years and I've never thought of it as gambling. So if you think Bingo is gambling, then you also must think Bunko is gambling?

Don't know what Bunko is, I've never heard the word before reading it in your post. As far as Bingo being gambling....why wouldn't it be? You are paying money to play a game in hopes that you will win the jackpot. Not much difference between that and paying money to play blackjack or hold 'em. Also, most places that play bingo also sell pull tabs. The whole thing is supervised by the state lottery people.

Yeah, I dunno, Bubba. I play Bunko once a month with the same 12 ladies. We all pay $5 to play then the pot is divided at the end of the night according to high scores, low scores, the most bunko's, etc. Nobody makes a mint, nobody loses anything but $5, but it does give some of us the only time we get to get out of the house. Me, I'm out of the house lots and seldom home it seems like. But we have a couple of mom's that talk non stop because we're the only adults they see except the grocery store carry out guy. Bingo's like Bunko to me, I don't see it as a place a bunch of pimps hang out for new meat. Could be wrong - I was once before, but it just doesn't seem to be in the same family of games. So does that mean the churches can't even pray for the Chiefs to have a good game? I just disagree - and I know I'm not bringing you a good argument.
