Its a chicken-shit ploy to say the least.

Now when the other side pulls the same shenanigans they(certain people) cry foul.

Detector,

What I meant to say, and maybe I didn't get it across very well was that people have the right to change their minds. When enough people do change their minds, I believe they have every legal right to start the repeal process.

I honestly don't recall voting three times to have the SEC built. When were they?

The SEC has not been built and that's not my fault. For almost 10 years now the City and County Commissions have held the majority of people who wanted the SEC built. The supporters of the SEC have had the votes on both commissions to get it done. Why hasn't it been built? If they would have done their job, we would not be in the mess we're in today!

As far as I can tell, the will of the people has yet to be bypassed.

You are right it hasn't been bypassed. It has been relegated to a one lane road with petition wielding fogies parading as flagmen suffocating the traffic so much that you forgot where the hell you were going in the first place.

It has absolutely nothing to do with 'not wanting' and everything to do with understanding the simple economics: neither create wealth and neither of them are a panacea.... as some would lead you to believe.

They do, however, redistribute wealth.

IF you follow the money at the end of the day, you will see a very large percentage of it leave OUR local economy.

I will agree with you Lurker in part.............the casino's money will go largely out of Dodge. That being said, a large chunk of change will be kept here. As will the taxes it has to pay. The majority of money for Dodge will come with what a destination casino brings.....tourists. Not just for a week but year round. Other business' will then come here and open shop. I do think that now would be a good time to have the SEC because the events could tie in with those the casino brings. I am not niave enough to think they alone will save Dodge, but they will help build a better economy that in turn will help Dodge.

AND, tourist trade and illegals don't mix. A casino would clean up this town and put pride back into the community. Something that has missing for many years.

I actually believe that you will find that the tourist industry employees quite a few illegals........... just like any other service industry. That is one of the main employers of illegals.

I agree a casino will take dodge in a different direction thos. I think going down that road instead of the road they are on now is a good thing and I'm excited to see how ya'll vote!

I wholeheartedly agree. With the casino in DC, there will be so many other business opportunities to "leech" on. The Casino is needed as a "magnet" to draw out-of-towners to the area. These coming from afar will still drop money into businesses of the area, other than the casino. I want to be there to assist with that process!!!
