| Ok, telco you win. Yes this is from Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce home page under “ Our Community” The problem that I have with this type of advertisement it is plain deceiving. Ask your self if you were to travel to Dodge after reading this, how would you feel? If you can not tell the truth why say it at all. Am I proud of the Chamber statement? No Way. We live in a period that people can bend the TRUTH any way to their advantage. Example about the Casino. The ad on the radio has been tooting their horn about reducing our taxes. Do you think this will happen? Show me a paper where the City and County have made the statement they will lower taxes. In fact our “Taxes” may have to increase. You can bet on that. |

| I still like my original saying for Dodge (not that I made it up but it was the first saying I originally quoted): "Welcome to Dodge City. Enjoy the view, food, and beautiful sunset. After the sun sets........get the hell out and take two people with you."

| I'm having a really hard time figuring out what the big deal is on this one. I think Gunner is correct. Let's hope you guys aren't hired for PR for Dodge anytime soon. I'm proud of where I am from but sometimes when I read this site I feel like maybe I am missing something and that I should instead be ashamed. I surely don't mind the diversity when I am home. It isn't like it is a new development or anything. |

| I think it is just comical how some spin something for advertising sake - I think Dodge does have "rolling" hills but not so sure bout the forested part of the pitch. Every town has advertising to entice folks to come there and spend thier vacation $$............ it's what towns do. Just cause the locals have a tounge in cheek view of it don't mean they are embarressed to be from Dodge. There is plenty to be be proud of and to build on - I think all on this board know the ship ain't sunk yet!

| Just a bunch of poop! My son, yws works in the hotel motel industry here in good Ole DC. I often hear about who has come from wherever to see the history that used to be here. And, how they felt let down about how it is now. At how amazed they were at just how the city looked! Like a dump! Many have come here from different countries such as; Germany, England, Holland, Norway, and many others countries who still show "Gunsmoke" on a daily basis. They are taken aback at what they see, and what they "SMELL"! Not what they thought at all. Many left with questions as to how this could have happened? And left with a lot less favorable thoughts about Dodge then when they came here. What I would like to know is, what those who came up with this "Our Community" stuff, what were they on, cause I want some, to see what they said was here???? Quite a few "Visitors" after getting off of the TROLLEY, took cars they had, and went thru Dodge that was NOT on the trolley route! And were sickened by what they saw, smelled and heard! One thing is for certain, most visitors left without the lofty thoughts that were advertised and an utter amazement at how things in Dodge City really were! Certainly not what had been "advertised"! How sad it now is, for a City that at one time, had HONOR! Not anymore! |
