Another meeting for the CFAB, “The Community Facilities Board”. What gives? Can anyone fill in the answer, or does some one know how The Judges ruling is going. He will be in Dodge City on the July 18th. And this CFAB meeting will be July 19th. 2 meetings in a week for the CFAB. That's odd.


This Judge from Wichita will make a ruling on whether you will be able to vote on The repeal of the ½ % Sales Tax for Ford County. It's going to be held in the County Court House on the 2 nd. Floor.


The agenda does not state what the meeting is about. Anyone have connections?

Today (7-20) I heard that the CFAB is having yet another meeting tonite at 7:00 p.m. What are they up to?

I suspect that they know that a repeal vote of the sales tax is on the horizon. Judge Innes will be making a decision early this next week and most people think he will allow the repeal vote to take place.

The CFAB may be circling their wagons in an attempt to fight this repeal effort.

The supporters of the SEC have tried a negitive scare tactic on the voters by saying that property taxes will have to be raised if the repeal is a success. That is not true!

Strobel ( City Attorney) said it's extremely unlikely under normal circumstances that sales tax collections would fail to meet projections. But if they did, the city and county would not be legally obligated to cover the shortfall by raising property taxes because the only collateral for sales tax bonds is sales tax revenue.

He said the city and county could take another approach to dealing with the shortfall, such as extending the repayment period or using bond reserve accounts.

"But the bottom line is, they don't go on property taxes," he said.



The city is getting ready to raise property taxes again!!! We are already being taxed to death. Anyone who proposes raising property taxes for building the SEC should be dragged to the city limits and strung up! The SEC will never lower our property taxes!!!

The ballot of 1997 and the last declaratory judgement by Judge Innes said the SEC must be built, however the mention of cost and size were never addressed!!! If the city wants a SEC let them build it, but let them also scale it back to an appropriately sized facility! No convention center attached, ther Casino already has plans for a Convention Center. We do not need nor can we support two convention centers!!!

Thank you. I believe I was mistaken about the CFAB meeting. I was told it was held last night. Sorry about the mis-info.

My understanding is the City must have made a goof up on their dates. No meeting was held in City Hall.

Could it be that this was planned? Make people tired of going and nothing is open or meeting held. How many dollars did Dodge spend for the new home page? It was on for 4 days stating the CFAB would be held on July 19, 2007 Could it be that the City Manager was taking care of the home page? Maybe the help does not know how to take it off, so they let it expire. That sounds about right.
