Yep, the site that Boot Hill Gaming is seriously considering is N.W. and N. of the west U.S. 50 bypass and U.S. highway 50 intersection. Is that correct?

I think that all the powers at be have already decided that, regardless of who builds the casino, the property will be annexed. Even if the land is annexed it will still be in Ford County, so the County will get their share
(1.5%) regardless.

I did not realize that all three of the county commissioners must vote for the property to be annexed. I was under the impression a majority could just approve it. Guess I was wrong.

We'd be better off if the city stayed out of it due to the enormous infrastructure costs.... roadways, water and sewer (etc.)....

Experience should tell us that keeping the real decisions away from our city commissioners is also a plus.

I would not have a problem with the cost as long as the money came from the WND sales tax and not put onto property tax. However, this commission has had no problem spending property tax $ for projects that are and/or should be WND projects.

Wow Pootsy. I'm glad you are following your dreams but what is the deal with not allowing others to do the same? I have friends in Dodge that have big dreams and hope to make what you call a shithole into a great place to stay. Why is that dream less important? I think it is admirable that some young folks stay in the city and try to work hard at making it better than if they would just leave and complain.

Everyone has different dreams. I'm glad you are following yours and if that took you out of the city then so be it. I'm following mine as well but I sure am glad someone is in Dodge trying to do something to save the place I grew up and loved so much.

Jack, why would you encouraged anyone to stay there? There is nothing in SW Kansas, not just Dodge! If I get any clients from SW Kansas I encouraged them to stay in this area where I am at now. Most love it here and are glad I did encourage them to stay. There just isnt any opportunity there. I use to be very proud to be from there and somewhat still am. You all don't hear the things I do whenever I tell people I am from there. DC has a VERY VERY bad reputation all over Kansas. I am sorry to say but it does. I pray that the town cleans up and gets back to the place it use to be before EXCEL came crashing in. that would be fabulous! Right now though I don't see that. Haven't you all read that other thread about Mexico? Well the illegals are taking over everything, and they have taken over DC. I feel so bad for everyone who lives there, believe me.
