| Why can they not resist the urge to run our lives? Do they not value the sanctity of freedom? The freedom to honor our loved ones the way we choose? Every day the commissioners are not in session is a good day for Dodge.

| Thank goodness my parents had plots in the other cemetary, where they could have above-ground headstones. There are permanent vases on them and we have fresh flowers put in there from time to time. I know they get blown away, but it just makes me feel better sometimes. Rules are getting so strict. There are very few cemetaries up here that allow above-ground memorials and most are already full. The others only allow a smallish ground-level stone and no other decoration. But these are private - not city-owned. So they can make whatever rules they want and you pretty much have to live with it if you buy a space in their cemetary. City owned? Sounds like the city just doesn't want to spend money out there. Never be a money-maker....all that crap. So why don't they sell it to a cemetary corporation that WILL allow whatever the buyer wants, for a price. Rules. Made to be broken.

| I've only been here for about 36 months so I'm not a long time resident of Dodge. Have the city commissioners here done anything that people sit back and say..."what a successful project" or "the city commissioners really took care of us as cititzens"???

| From my perspective, both small town and big town living, I see that the people who are motivated to sit on the council for good are the very ones who don't have time and don't have the money to wage a good campaign. And there are some folks who are very honest and would do a great job representing us at the City level who, for whatever reason, don't want to stick their neck out. They like living in the shadow. Or maybe they don't feel qualified. That's just my 2 cents worth....

ALL OF THEM ARE SUCCESSFUL AND BENEFICIAL. Just ask anyone* *Commissioners, that is. Former commissioners, too.

| Just a thought, but it seems to me that maybe the head of the Parks Dept. doesn't have the authority to make judgment calls on what is proper and what is not. I'll bet he's had his share of citizens in his face. I think it would be better for the Commie, er commish boys to give the department head some parameters and give him the authority to decide on a case-by-case basis. Outlawing all decorations is another example of government acting like we're all in the third grade. OK, I need to go Number One. Who's permission to I need? |

| Thats one of the reasons I hate politics. Priorities are given to those who put them in office. I've known several good honest people that had plans to turn the city upside down once in office. Once in office they found out they were little more than a puppet for those who put them there. Those who choose to go against the grain pay the price. Mr Lee comes to mind. Don't blame the people blame the system that put them there. Seems to me there needs to be a means for the public to veto stupid ideas. If the city tries to pass something that the majority of the public disagrees with there should be a way to force it to a public vote. It would help keep the city in-check knowing they can't just run over the public with no recourse. If there is such a system in place then its the public fault for not taking action.

| Detector It would be nice to apply that logic to all levels of government.
