Well if it is with a casino it will work; other than that it will not.

I feel like my kids have gotten a good education in Dodge City and we have made a lot of really good friendships.

There are a lot of people in town who are anxious for the SEC to be build and have the kinds of activities that will be possible. The Civic Center is very nice but the layout limits certain activities that would be possible in another venue. Even though every seat is not full at every event, the Civic Center is heavily scheduled. There are a lot a things to do in Dodge City and the SEC center will enhance that.

Rental housing is tight right now. I would suggest you talk to the people you will be working for. They will probably know what landlords to contact.

Welcome to Dodge City.
I appreciate your welcome. I found somewhere to rent N of Comanche st. I look forward to seeing if I can make the most of it.

Financial points, re Boot Hill Museum budget 'crisis' - yet again

Since 501c non-profits are public view corporations, in looking at Boot Hill's budget for this year, I've noted some very serious questions that need to be answered.

Examples include:

the listing of counsultant fees ($50,000) as an asset;

Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on 'gift store' items;

Almost no money spent on fund raising -- a major expence normally for non-profits in financial trouble, nor on active membership activities;

Listing City of Dodge City 'emergency' money as a budgeted item;

Public review of the budget of Boot Hill Museum Inc. sould be required before any more 'emergency' money is sent their way. What fund raising is being done; what membership mailings, and other ways to raise money have been done? All of these are necessary questions before more money is spent.

Has Boot Hill Museum looked at being closed one day a week, or part of two or more each week -- especially in the winter season?

Oddly the agenda notes that the 'acting' chair of the CFAB committee is making the presentation for Boot Hill. Guess that must mean he can't vote on it later, or that he works for Boot Hill ? Odd. Never before can I remember that a Chair of a official city committee both makes a request for another third party, then votes on it too. Maybe the agenda is wrong?

From CFAB agenda: Boot Hill Grant Request . Presented by Lance Nichols , Acting Chair [Note: Greg Starks is still officially on committee but not now 'Chair' or something ethical like that -- due to his previous position on th private Boot Hill Gaming Inc. when he pushed the city at that time to build the ulitilies free for the casino by building it first 50 feet from the private casiono/hotel complex. Now that two locations seem to be possible, building an events center in the 'wrong' place might be avoided, don't you think?]

There are many emergencies in the tourism venues of Dodge City and Ford County -- but only one seems allowed to apply again, and again for public sales tax fund. And that's just wrong, folks.
