| Dodge City Resort & Gaming - Where does Events Center go now? Coalition to submit casino application, by Jon Ruhlen, Hutchinson News, Dec. 19, 2007 A second applicant seems to be filing for the State of Kansas approval for management rights of the Ford County-located state owned casino. Guess the Events Center has to wait now since being next to the Casino is the majority position of the Ford County Commission and the Dodge City Commission......... or will the Judge come back, as Mike B suggested, and make the Events Center get started -- dirt moved somewhere, etc., no matter where the casino gets built -- of course that can't happen until the District Court and the State of Kansas Supreme Court rule on the legal issues of having state owned casinos at all ? We could be talking months and months for those courts to rule. |

| Yepper. It will probably be done along with the Events Center, the new Horsethief Lake, 14th Avenue, West Wyatt Earp, the new Jail and all the other projects that we seem to whip right out in no time. Seems like the only thing we get built right away, are all the new schools we have to build for all of our "growing population"! ![]() |

| The following is an portion from the Hutch News...(In reference to the new casino proposal)... Because the land sits outside the Dodge City limits, the Ford County Commission would have to endorse it, even though Dodge City would likely annex the land in order to run infrastructure to the casino. That doesn't sit well with Dodge City Commissioner Rick Sowers. "It's a little disconcerting to me," Sowers said. "I guess I was hopeful that any applicants would have come forward in that time frame and wouldn't have come forward so late."The casino application deadline has already been extended once, from Sept. 27 to Dec. 26th. Any casino would require infrastructure from the city, Sowers said, and city officials have no idea what kind of infrastructure needs the new proposal would require. Commissioner Rick Sowers...are you kidding me? Do you really think that after all the meetings with Boot Hill gaming and all the planning that has been done...that city officials have no idea what kind of infrastructure needs the new proposal would require? Give us all a break!!! Could it be that Radio Rick and the other commissioners may feel abit threatened that their home town boys may have some competition?
