| Casino deals just keep getting better for Ford County Second proposal from Dodge City Gaming Inc. includes free land for event center, horse barns, rodeo area, lots of horses, and 3 percent for non-profit tourism venues. DodgeCity.com: Dodge Globe: Local News: Stories Not sure why Kim Goodnight put off the vote -- he showed up late as the other two commissioners were about to move on a motion -- others got votes with 3 day notice, and for Epic, a few hours, but former Boot Hill Gaming Inc. board member Goodnight must have his reasons. But more importantly, the package that the Wichita-based second casino group proposed should raise the bar for Butler National, especially having horses, and the free land for the city to build our events center. This would mean that a second expo center would not be necessary, also saving millions of dollars for the tax payers. Also, not noted in the article really, is that Dodge City Gaming Inc. could have a casino making money for the county/city almost immediately using an existing new fancy building that is already on the property, while they build their casino/hotel complex. This could mean millions of dollars extra for the city and county -- guess the first group will have to match that in the future. State of Kansas will love having money flowing right away. Their location also means that a new fire/emergency building will not be needed either, something overlooked by those talking about the west location. You can't have 1,000s of people without close fire department. |

| The monstrosity that Harding wants to unload on the East ByPass. I don't thiink this will ever pass in this location. It is too close to the airport, and directly in the flight path for takeoffs and landings. I think the NW location is a much better place to put the casino. |

| The deals keep getting sweeter... Maybe if we hold out long enough, some outfit will come along and offer to pay for a few of the new schools....?? Or offer to support Boothill or All 4 Fun too. Wouldn't that be nice?

| That's enough Bear!! Gee, and maybe you work for Harding??! ![]() The property goes clear to 113 Road which is directly in the flight path. Buildings, lights, traffic would all have an effect on the airport (it does not necessarily have to be too tall). IMO, the NW property would be better suited for the development, no matter who is building it. Of course, by the time they get done screwing around and build it, Dodge City will be a desert with rotting, abandoned packing plants and tortilla factories. |

| flight path was addressed at meeting Location approved by FAA. Oddly, the one sad plane crash we've had in years was out by the old air field, very near the west location. More importantly, and not addressed, is that the new proposal makes saving millions of dollars possible for Dodge City/Ford County through land donation, building of agri-tourism facilites, and a positive outlook on having horses in the area ! Which ever group gets the contract by the state of Kansas -- I just glad that pressure to save taxpayers that money can be applied to both. Remember, Butler wants to sale 33 acres for our Event Center to Dodge City -- Dodge City Gaming will give it free. And their proposal would avoid the cost of building a second events center for the agri-related events, again a major cost savings. (And no, I'm not in any way, direct or non-direct, involved financially with either group. Don't like gambling -- don't want to pay to be proven a loser, nor to pay more taxes at the casino, etc...... ) ps: facility at Hardings has been home to some of the nicest parties in Dodge, but it was only a side note that money could be flowing immediately, if desired. The plans by the second group were as nice/nicer than the attractive Butler plan -- the state will require $50 million or more from each for casino/hotel, so that is not a concern. | Actually, the ground that Harding owns only goes to the fence to the east. Now they may own the whole half section, I think all they are wanting is the property the buildins reside on which is not quite 300 acres. Personally I hope it goes to the west site. And yes, maybe I work for Hardon, I mean Harding.
