Property Tax: Finney County vs. Ford County, Finney Wins

I like to check this out on a regular basis.

Just so we remember where we live.

2008 Chevy 4 wheel drive. The property tax and the registration fees is $722.04 in Ford County. If I lived in Garden City/Finney County, the total cost would be only $419.00 per year.

I called and checked. The number in Finney County is 620-272-3559.

That is 72.32% higher in Ford County than Finney County.

While we all know this, I think a reminder is important now and then.

While I don't disagree that the amount is a huge difference. I fail to see how you get a number like 72.32%. If you take 419.00 and divide that by 722.04 you get .5803 which converts to 58.03%. You subtract the 58.03% by 100% which represent the whole. and you get 41.97% higher. You can then verify that amount by taking most calculators that have a % function and take 722.04 - 41.97%=418.9998. If you take 722.04 - 72.32% that equals 199.8606.

303 / 419 = .72315 * 100 = 72.315%

Round up to 72.32%

Check.

419 * 1.7232 = 722

Then open the calculator on a windows computer enter 722.04 then hit the (-) key, then enter 72.32, then the (%) key, then the equals (=) key and explain the answer of 199.860672?

I seriously don't understand how 722.04 is 72.32% higher than 419 but if you go the opposite dirrection 199.86 is 72.32 lower than 722.04.

Take the 419.00 PLUS 72.32%, It actually amounts to the differnce between markup and margin. A 50% markup = a 33.33% margin.

BTW, the answer to your quote is 722.0208. 419 + 72.32% = 722.0208
