I heard Terry Malone switched parties (from D to R) to help in his bid for office. This sounds like the typical politician. Also heard, if elected, he is going to try and divide his time between city attorney and county attorney. I know him and have dealt with him; he is not very easy to read. You are right, he does seem grumpy sometimes and all right others.

Well I would not have Larry Daniels if I were you all. If he does take office he needs to teach his staff about confidentuality.

There is no way that one person could handle both jobs. That is part of the problem now, according to Sauer. That is why he plea bargains and doesn't prosecute most of the cases brought to him, not enough time.

I was wondering the same thing as I read this. The City job and the County job are both full time. How could one person handle both and do justice to either?

perhaps by management and treating staff right

The high turn over in CA office this last year included some good attorneys that left for higher office and were really glad to be away from current CA.

Maybe a county attorney that manages his/her staff correctly would make a difference -- and lower case load for assistant CAs would help then too.

On the plus side, if he switches from Defense atty to prosecution, he will no longer have clients, so he won't have to deal with confidentiality.

Sure he will, if there is a big case like this Chris Tahah case his staff will have to keep quiet about what he is going to do and what is going on. There are things that his staff cannot talk about.

No, if there's something exculpatory, there's actually an ethical duty to disclose it to the other side.

The time to use discretion is ifthere is an active investigation, but that's not the same as confidentiality to a client (which you can't disclose without their consent, ever).
