THAT is so very true.

| County Attorney Having followed this board for sometime, I have so far always resisted the urge to respond until in this thread a couple people asked what is wrong with John Sauer. So I shall tell you. For openers, as Mike B. mentioned earlier, "the man is being investigated by the State Judicial Administrator for prosecutorial misconduct and malicious prosecution." This is true and is based on a complaint that former City Commissioner/Mayor Terry Lee filed on him a few months ago for maliciously prosecuting him for first a felony (then changed it to a misdemeanor) when there was no basis for it. Sauer did it for political gain and the state has agreed to investigate Sauer. The state is definitely NOT part of any LOCAL "good ole boy" network and felt there were grounds to investigate Sauer or they would not be doing so. Taco Dawg, I hope for your own peace of mind that you can one day get over the fact that a jury chose to believe Lee and his eyewitnesses rather than Ramsour, who was caught in a major lie. Sauer hates Lee and if there was anything he could have done to convict him he would have done it. But, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Sauer does not have the competence required to do the job properly. He does not know the proper charge to file in a murder case, a drive-by shooting, etc. He REFUSES to prosecute identity theft cases, obviously not caring how the public can suffer from this. He has driven off nearly everyone that has worked for him. The only ones that stay are those that feel stuck or are just waiting it out until he is defeated in the next election. We have lost excellent prosecutors in the County Attorney's office because of him. Sauer is a male chauvenist (sp?) who does not like to see women as prosecutors. He wrongfully fired an excellent female prosecutor a year or two ago and Ford County had to pay dearly to keep from being sued (and rightfully so). His arrogance cost the taxpayers a bundle on that one. He is an egomaniac that cannot stand to be told he is wrong. He cannot manage an office staff and the large caseload that goes with the office. He tried pawning off city misdemeanors on the city court system until he caught so much heat for it from the county commission. As you can see, the list is rather lengthy as to why Sauer is so wrong for the position. While both Larry Daniels and Terry Malone would be excellent improvements over the pile that presently occupies the office, I would tend to go with Malone. I say that for 2 reasons: one is that Malone is more prosecution oriented and we need someone tough. The other is that, agree with Malone or not, his ethics are above reproach. This is something sadly lacking in Sauer. Thanks for the opportunity to speak out. This is a fine board and does a good job in keeping people informed on many issues. Take care and have a good day. |

If you believe that is why he did not call the other witnesses, you are sadly mistaken. But please do not let this mistake change your support for someone else in office. |

Wow glad you didn't hold back, that was a mouthful, But would you care to enlighten us as to why he hates Lee so much, that he would charge him when he has no case? I don't believe that he REFUSES to prosecute identity theft cases, as I know several people who were victims in those case and the offenders were charged. Although maybe they pick and choose which ones they actually want to proceed with. And didn't he hire a female prosecutor several months ago, and didn't she assist with the Tahah case?

| Nothing related to the illegals in Dodge gets the attention or prosecution it deserves. It would tarnish our "sanctuary city" label and we couldn't have that.

| County Attorney Yes Army, I agree. Dodge City can never rise to its full potential until we curb the sanctuary city/illegal problem. Btw, there was an article I read (I am wanting to say yesterday's Globe) about a town in Virginia that put a dent in their illegal problem. We should have the guts to do that. Blondemoments, you raise good points. From what I understand, Sauer's courtroom demeanor with Lee and the comments Lee said Sauer made to his attorney afterwards indicated what he thought of Lee and that he hoped this case would revive his career. Kindofa double whammy there I guess. Perhaps when I said he REFUSES to prosecute identity thefts that was a bit strong if you know of actual cases he has prosecuted. I suppose pick and choose would be more accurate. I just know the police are extremely frustrated with his attitude toward those types of cases. I would say a theft is a theft and all should be prosecuted. As Army pointed out, I would bet a month's pay that most of those suspects are illegals. You are correct that he presently has a female prosecutor. Read about her in the paper today ref the Tahah case. But considering his attitude with women, only time will tell how long she lasts. I think at the present point in time, from what I hear, he is lucky to get any attorney that comes along, so he is willing to hire those he normally wouldnt (for whatever reason). I hear she is good so I hope she lasts thru the election. |

| I went to the ICE website and got the address to our regional field office and wrote a letter of complaint to the director of the regional field office that is in charge of Kansas. I complained about all the illegals in Dodge City and how law enforcement looks the other way. I even included the article that was in the Dodge City Globe not too long ago that quoted Chief of Police John Ball talking about using their real name or their work name. I suggested they should come down to Dodge City and perform a raid on the two packing plants and they probably could set a new record of arrests topping the 390 that were arrested at the Iowa packing plant. If anybody else would like the address of the regional field office for our area and the director of that office it is: Glenn Triveline, Field Office Director 101 W. Congress Pkwy, Suite 4000 Chicago, IL 60605 Or you can find it here... Office of Detention and Removal Operations Offices
