Wow, never thought I'd get that kind of a response. Politics isn't exactly my area. Try to stay out of it as much as possible, and I've never been a public speaker. So I don't think I could do that. I've seen how commisioners get hammered. And you constituents seem like your friend one day, and an enemy the next. I'd be happy to support and vote for anyone with the same train of thought, but you never know what they're really thinking. Besides, with my girlfriend graduating college in a year and a half, I'll probably be leaving town. We need someone honest, and who plans on being around for the long term.

I think there are a lot of people out there that feel similar to how we do. We just need to get some of this info to the current commisioners. If they don't do much, we make sure to bring it up when the new ones are running for election.

dodgehigh,

Don't be fooled. The current city commissioners know exactly where you are coming from. They understand your ideas. They have heard your ideas before. Some will agree and some will disagree. What we need is another commissioner with your ideas to turn the vote to what is positive! We need another commissioner who will stand up against those who want to spend our tax dollars on projects that are a total waste!

Go for it!

Mike B.

But can anyone seriously see a 25 year old on the commission? I think I'd even have a hard time voting for someone that young.

Didn't ya see that high school kid that got elected mayor just recently? Don't be scared to take a chance. Ya just might be what is needed. Opportunity knocks on strange doors sometimes. What ya got to lose? The platform is right, ya got an honest offer of support, and ya got a desire to see DC residents get a fair shake. What more do ya need? DC is full of colorful folks in your 25 years you couldn't have created THAT much trouble........LOL

Quite the opposite dhf....

Politics is about noise.. excuse me; it's the media that's the noise so someone of your age would be the 'story' that will fuel the noise that will sway the voters....

dodgehigh,

Never under-estimate the power of youth! Nothing wrong with being young. I'd advise you to be conservative with your appearance and language.

As far as your girl friend grad. fron college. Good for her! You will be in Dodge for, at least, another 3 years. You have great ideas that DC needs!

Younger might be a good idea if you think about it.

Someone that is too young to be in someones pocket yet, someone that doesn't have their own agenda yet and someone thats only goal is to represent the voters would be a fresh idea.

I wonder if the residents would go for a Civic Center remodel as opposed to new convention center?

Dodgehigh - I'm behind all the others. You were very succint in your presentation of ideas. You may not think you're a public speaker, but think about it this way: a public speaker is a person who tells a story to not just one other person, but many at one time. I also agree with the conservative approach - it will appeal to more than one generation of voters. Sounds like Dodge needs at least one of you, and if you could clone yourself, they'd take you both! Good luck! Let us all know if you need anything at all - I'm sure we could collectively help you out.
