Bill would gather data on juvenile offenders
TOPEKA -- African-American youth are arrested more frequently than their white peers in Sedgwick County, and Rep. Melody Miller, D-Wichita, thinks that the trend exists in many Kansas counties. But no state law requires counties to address the problem.
That's why Miller has asked the House Committee on State and Federal Affairs to introduce a bill that would require Kansas counties to gather data that show the racial breakdown of youth who are arrested and what happens to them in the court system.
Miller's proposal would require counties to reduce the disproportionate number of minority youth arrested and adjudicated.

I guess the onliest way to do that is to write some exemptions into criminal law that excludes minorities from prosecution for crimes committed.....

Its a crazy world we live in...

I saw on this mornings news that Texas is having some real problems with the Old Orleans bunch. Seems the crime rate has skyrocketed and studies show the vast majority of it is the new arrivals. Now they're having political problems like this because some are claiming that Texas law enforcement is targeting the Old Orlean'ians on purpose.

Hehe after seeing the videos from Old Orleans I find that a bit hard to swallow.

Detector, You've hit on the answer. Instead of prosecution, mayhaps Kansas should exile them to a more chocolate area. For free, of course... with a $2K debit card. That would be cheap.

I don't have the time to go into the Texas and NO thing now - I'm at work but I'm here to tell ya - not all you hear on TV is true. Houston crime rate is up but overall crime rate is down. Only murders are up......... Mayor White is just real happy bout that one. Houston is down bout 700 officers and since Houston was labeled a "fat" city - White will only hire officers that meet military ht and wt guidelines.......Hence new recruites with NO experience, NO yrs of service pay......good move for White - Houston suffers. The NO bunch are killin themselves off.... they are targeting the FEMA check crowd. Not the rest of us gun totein bastards cause they seem to know around Houston we got as many bayous as they do.............. floatin face down is always an option - I don't worry bout the NO folks - they haven't caused me any issues. They kinda stick to themselves.......
