It's got nothing to do with what's right it's the law. I was told he has a 45 min permit to be here tommorrow and there is nothing they can do about it. If you start trouble he'll take you to court and get the publicity he wants.

That is correct, I work with 3 guys that are going, they meet up with the Garden City riders at the Harley shop to all ride to Greensburg together, then they meet up with the Wichita riders in Greensburg and all go to the funeral together and line the streets with American Flags, then they all ride to Dodge to do it again.

I have to agree with wordy here...as much as I would like to see a bullet in him and all his followers heads. The Bill of Rights does give him the right to say all the sh!t he believes. If we pass laws to stop him, whats to say more laws won't be passed to stop us from saying what we want or reading and watching what we do. Where would it end?

I'm not doing nothing. I'm arguing for the First Amendment. As far as what Fred wants... He wants exactly what we are doing right here right now - giving him attention. He's nothing more than an attention whore so the bigger stink you or anyone else raises the better he likes it.

If it were my son's funeral I'd thank the Patriot Guard for everything they do and for honoring my son's memory and I'd never so much as look at the Phelps cult or even acknowldege they exist.

No. The reason he started and continues to do it is because he can, and nothing can be done about it because for some reason, I yet to understand, people have chosen to let these types abuse the constitution in the worst form. I'm not surprised though. It seems we waist no time passing really stupid amendments, but we find all sorts of excuses to not patch ones obviously in need.

You seem to see Phelps as a kid throwing a tantrum looking for attention and the answer is to ignore him. These people have a problem and ignoring it doesn't make it go way.

Some how smoking comes to mind when I read that. Sounds a lot like the remarks about whose next after smokers. But the difference is banning smoking passed anyway. Apparently people are more concerned about limiting the right to smoke than the right to picket a funeral.

I know what you're saying Wordy it just frustrates me to no end trying to understand why some people defend this behavior. I don't see that it has anything to do with defending the constitution and everything to do with defending the right to be a jerk to each other.

Nobody's stopping him from spouting his crap to the people that want to listen, but we are defending his right to spout his crap to people that don't want to listen? Is it just me or does anyone else see the problem with this?

Sometimes I think people allow this to be covered under the "right to free speech" just because its their way of poking fun at America.

When I was a kid my mom used to get on to me for giving my brother crap verbally. Should I have defended my right to free speech? my right to be a jerk like it or not? Ya, and my mom would have expressed her rights to warm my butt.

It just seems we pick and choose WHEN to defend this right to free speech at the worst possible times. Clearly what this jerk does is wrong and could easily be stopped without touching his precious right to be a jerk, or free speech which ever you prefer, simply from the obvious fact he's mentally abusing this family.

He's about to take probably the worst moment in this family's life and make it even worse, he's taking the last and only time this family will have to say goodbye to their child and turning it into a roadshow and we defend his right to do so by the right to free speech?
