| Isn't Lowell on the board? I thought he was, maybe I am wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

| I was at that meeting as was almost 200 (?) people. Brakey did a great job. If not for the large group of people that showed up and Brakey being on top of his game, I doubt that the outcome would have been a denial of the permit requested. This was no failure. It was a win for Ford County and Richland Township. To Mr. Brakey: Mr. Brakey, I just wanted to let you know that you did a great job Monday night at the meeting. You were well prepared and they would not have voted on this matter without your last comments. They would have tabled it and made the entire evening a waste of time for all of us there. As a concerned home owner I really appreciated all the work that you put into fighting this location. I guess that we are still not done. We still have to get this through the County Commissioners where Coffin has most of his influence. Please continue your good work. Thanks again for all that you did. |

| Tee; Mr.Brakey was asked to help with the presentation because of the time that he served on the planning board, about 20 years. Yes he lives in Richland Township, but others people from Richland Township also worked getting petitions signed, doing leg work. Frankly I do not know of anyone else in Dodge City area that could do a better job. I do not believe the people in Dodge City understand how close this case might have been if Mr. Brakey had not been at the meeting. What was my greatest concern,Mr.Powers farms the 2 circles on the north side of JAG ground. Then across Beeson Road on the North side Mr. Powers has farm ground. Why would he want to support this project with waste paper blowing in to his crops, also a drainage problem come across his farm ground. This is a very large drainage area from the south, starting close to the Ford - Ensign Road. Drainage from the Recycling will also run into this drainage. You wonder what was in it for him. ( MONEY)?????? If this had been a average person on the board it would have been a conflict of interest. They would have abstained. But not Mr. Powers. |

| I agree I agree with you that Lowell does a great job in matters like this, fighting the powers that be. I just think the whole "prevailing winds argument" was exploited to keep it away from certain peoples' backyard. In Western Kansas, I've seen the wind out of the North as much as the South. Lowell did say that he wanted them to build in Ford county, just not that location. Unless they are willing to put it at least 10 miles from Dodge, you'd still get smell. Anywhere you put it, it will affect someones peace and environment. Ashland knew that and they acted accordingly. All I am saying is that if it had been in North Dodge where I live, would I have been able to count on the same support? My hat is off to Lowell for doing a great job in defeating this. He deserves mega kudos. I think most people would agree that they are happy to see him fight the good fight in keeping another stinking big business out of Dodge. Great job Lowell!! We all owe you a BIG THANKS!!

| Don't forget the fact that his competitor stood to gain financially from the dump.... I keep remembering how strong the stand was against JAG, Gaskil, the Blobe and Somerlon during the birth of www.dodgecitytalk.com
