| Are you ready for STINKING Dodge City. Tomorrow night, Monday 25th at 7:00 PM in the Rose Room in the Ford County Government center a hearing for a Conditional Use Permit, for Kansas Waste Recovery LLC to build a Recycling Center/Composting Facility at 109 Road and McArtor Road on the north west corner, behind JAG Concrete Plant. This will be the third time for a hearing. The other times it has been canceled. To bring you up to date, according to a new plan it will operate “24 hours a day, seven days a week. Truck traffic will be dumping at all hours. The Composting site has not yet been determined at this time”. “Materials arriving at the Facility will have SOME odors. As part of the floor sort process, any material that produces odors will be segregated and taken to the organic pile for removal. The organic pile will be stored in an enclosed trailer that will be closed at all times except when receiving materials. Once the trailer is filled it will be moved to the composting area location”. “Appropriate ventilation will be design and made operational to control any odors in the building”. “The main Recycling building will be 60,000 square feet, with an option to expand to 100,000 square feet in size”. Lets look what this means to The City of Dodge City. If you want to have a barbecue in your back yard, and the wind is from the Southwest it will be a No-No, the smell will make it unbearable to be outside. Every day will be the same. Sounds like fun. Remember the plant will be operating 24 hours a day. Sorry, but this is Progress. If you have children in Beeson School they will smell this all of the time, every day. What about when they go outside? Sorry, but this is Progress. The truck traffic will be much worse. They will go any directions they want, look at Trucks on Wyatt Earp. They have signs at city limits, trying to stop truck traffic. The people in this vicinity have their sleeping interrupted. Sorry, but this is Progress. When they talk about odors, the word SOME comes into play. In fact they are going to recover for resale anything that will be in your trash, like aluminum cans, metal, plastic, paper, baby dippers, and everything inside of them. There must be some liquid, so they must be planning on bottling THAT and sell it as Channel #5. Enough fun lets get serious, it will impossible for controlling the odors. You know what I mean in the summer, WOW what a smell. They are estimating on 300 ton of garbage a day at starting, and if they increase the building size it might be as high as 600-700 tons a day. Sorry, but this is Progress. The main item that they do not want to discuss is COMPOSTING. Let’s say they are able to recover 100-200 tons of recycling material a day, which I doubt, you would still have 400-500 tons of non-recycling material a day. The only way it will work is to have the COMPOSTING on site. To get this approve they will say, tell or do anything so it will pass. They will make all kinds of promises, but they will be broken. Sorry, this is Progress. If this is approved, you have no recourse. You will have to live with it from now on. Sorry, this is Progress. Your tax money that has been given to Dodge City/Ford County Development and it is being used for pushing this kind of a business. Do you want your TOWN to be known as Stinking Dodge City? It will be UNLESS you let The Ford County Planning Commission know. Please attend this meeting and show support for stopping this STINK. You and only You can stop this. Dodge City needs YOU. |

| Well, after a 2 1/2 hour meeting, and a motion to table it until next month that didn't get a 2nd, it was voted to recommend that the Ford Co. Commission not allow the facility at the JAG location.

| Was there anyone on the zoning commission who was for this POS? Names(s)? They should be dumped into that dump; wherever it is located.

| There were 2 board members that were against it, one abstained, and one voted for it. If I heard right, the board member that voted for it was Grant Powers.
