| Good job lurker, way to sniff out the info.

| I heard that Clarks Security is working at South Dillons because since they are closing the employees and customers are trying to help themselves out the back door....guess they are trying to help them liqudate......

| I'm confused....if they know they're selling out, why don't they back some semi's up and transfer the nonperishables to the north store? Pay the employees through Christmas and call it done. Maybe I just don't get it.

| I really do hope Genes Heartland puts in another store down south. I think there needs to be more of a choice to shop than a mexican store or dollar general. Just my opinion. I feel for the people south of the tracks that do not have a car to get around in. |

| I also remember when! The store had two doors and just inside the north door was where they kept the comic books and a bench so us kids could sit and read, while our parents did the grocery shopping. Sunday, if we were lucky, we would get to eat at Delmonicos to the south. School shopping was done at JC Penney and Woolworth. Sunday clothes came from McDonald's and Eckles (our versions of Dillards or Foleys). My cousin worked for Montgomery-Ward. I would sit at the soda fountain at Woolworths and wonder why city water smelled so funny (lots of chlorine!). I was born at St. Anthony's along with all my siblings. Had my tonsils out at St. Anthony's too. Remember the Flood of '65 and Little Britches Rodeo on South Second. Man I could go on forever! |

| south dillons always had the huge Santa on the roof at Christmas. I knew it was Christmas when Santa went up. Just to the north was Meyers Ice Cream and dairy....yummy... the building across the street (George Nielson) was originally built by my dad to be a Cord car dealership. He got one Cord and then he changed it to a Packard dealership. Now we are talking about a few years back.... |
