Sout Deellons... no mas... berry soon. I tink.

Yelp. The rumor is no more Dillons south of the tracks. Expect a Jan. 1 closing. I suppose that's good news for the Mexican grocery and the new dollar store.

dillons

Can't let this happen. We need somewhere to pickup angelo white food south of the tracks. I cannot afford to drive clear up north for one of the
basic needs of life, hell some say to me "Get a Life" booger.

Ya know it coul;d be that the south Dillons is so antiquated that it doesn't meet the "standards" of the Dillons/Kroger chain. It would cost way too much to renivate the building to meet the standards that is bringing the closing of the store. Just a thought. Used to be stores would remodel and keep goin but if ya look at the floor space - that dillons is rather small. The isles barely accomodate 2 carts that are commin at each other. So maybe it's the building and not the business.

Just get smaller carts. Most folks can’t afford to fill a full sized cart anyway.

Sometimes we just hate to see something that we grew up with go away. I remember cashing my paychecks there in the early seventies before I opened my first checking account.

I was a child in the 70's. I remember collecting pop bottles for the deposit when I was about about 8-11 and then I would take them to South Dillons and they would give me the $ for them. I made a lot of money doing that. Paid for my bicycle parts, candy and hotwheels.

Remember returnable pop bottles? That was before cans and before plastic. Damn, all of a sudden I am feeling very old.

Dillon's lease ends Jan. 31 and the building will be left without any grocery fixtures. Maybe donnieG could "move up" in the world.
